I stayed at Extended Stay America Richmond - Glen Allen - Short Pump 1/10 -1/11. Horrible experience walking through the door. These are the first things I noticed, the floor was sticky. You could hear every step you took. The bed did not have a comforter and the refrigerator made a clicking noise. As the night went on I decided to watch TV, then head to bed. Later that night at about 12am the neighbors were really loud and banging on the walls I assume it was a group of people as it sounded like fighting. So I decided to just watch a little tv now that I was already woke in hopes of dozing off but the TV would not turn back on and the neighbors were still obnoxious. I tried to call up to the front desk and ask for their help but the phone was unplugged and not working so I had to use my cellphone. I then proceed to go to the front desk and explain I was having a rough night and could I change to a quieter room. I was then moved to another room where again there wasn’t a comforter on the bed so I had to go back to the front desk again. Once I returned back to my new room, I entered the bathroom to find ROACHES over the toilet and tub/shower. I recorded a video and to it to the front desk, returned my key cards and left. I will never book again or recommend anyone.

Unsatisfactory Hotel experience

They checked us into 2 rooms that had not been cleaned. The 3rd one had been. Not one glass, dish or utensil in kitchen. No coffee maker. Ice maker broken. We're not told there is an elevator. Luggage cart has flat tire. Missing our desk chair. Carpet in room dirty. Carpet on stairs filthy and worn. Walls in one stairwell have holes in them.

Basic lodging

I am a business traveler looking for a place to stay long term when in Richmond, so I decided to give the Extended Stay America in Short Pump, VA a try for one night. The first room I was assigned was # 212. I always check the sheets, blankets and overall bed for cleanliness and bugs. The bed linens looked clean until I pulled back the mattress to check for bedbugs (none seen) and saw dirt and a used hair bow on the box spring cover next to the base of the headboard. I then checked the bathroom and saw what appeared to be dried sparkly nail polish on the toilet seat and inside of the toilet. As I continued to check out the rest of the room I noticed it was getting unbearably cold, and found that I was not able to adjust the settings on the ac unit. I went back to the front desk and asked to be given a different room. The nice young man working the desk moved me to room #110. This room was much cleaner, although I don't believe guests are able to adjust the heat/ac units in any of the rooms because as the evening went on I was freezing in this room too, and had no choice but to unplug the unit from the wall to turn off the air. To summarize: Pros: - Price is right if you are looking for basic lodging in a nice part of town - Comfortable mattress. I slept well. - Full kitchen area with refrigerator, stove, sink and granite counter tops - Big screen tv with a variety of cable channels - Close to a good variety of restaurants - Close to shopping - I felt safe. My room was in the same building as the check-in desk. You couldn't access the hallway where the rooms are located without a key card - It was quiet at night Cons: - No dishes, pot & pans or utensils of any kind are kept in the room. Go to the front desk and ask for them if needed. - Very thin blankets and towels. - Shampoo and soap are provided, but the shampoo bottle is the smallest I have ever seen and definitely not enough for more than one person. Not even enough for one person if you have a lot of hair . - No hair dryer. I had to go to the store and purchase one. - No ability to adjust the room temperature (that I could find). - Ice machine is located on the 1st floor, but if you need ice there isn't an ice bucket in the room or at the machine. Perhaps they expect you to take the ice tray from the freezer in your room with you to "catch" the ice? - At 7:10 am there were no signs of the free "grab and go" breakfast advertised. Not even a cup of coffee. I had to drive to the 7-11 down the street for coffee. Will I stay there again? Probably not. I think it is fine for someone who just wants the basics. I can put up with a lot, but having to drive somewhere for my morning coffee isn't one of them.

Quiet -- hidden away

This is somewhat of an odd location unless you are working in the nearby business park I guess. When we arrived they didn't have our reservation which we booked through a third-party site. However, a lady I assume was the manager got us the last available room. There are two separate buildings. The hallway of the one we were in reminds me of an old apartment. The hotel was quiet except for some woman who was very very angry in the middle of the night who woke us up. That's not the hotels fault of course.
