Dirty and disturbing
The room was very dirty. Not at all as pictured online. Pillows were tiny. Bed was terrible. No hot water. Broken bathtub fixtures. Terrible experience. People roaming the grounds at all hours and knocking on our door after midnight. Near the train tracks and the train comes through several times during the night. We were exhausted after our stay here.
We had booked this through Qantas as recommended accommodation. I’m greatly surprised that Qantas would have recommended such a motel. To keep it brief. Positives: the receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. We can’t fault him or his professionalism. Negatives: The appearance is many years overdue for painting, gardening, cleaning, rubbish collection, etc. Our room overlooked what looked like an abandoned building and broken glass. The floor was dirty. We asked that it be cleaned, which is was, but afterwards, we still managed with one sweep of the towel to get what you see in the picture. Small flies in the bathroom, the floor of which was utterly revolting. Being accosted for money by “guests” after having parked the car. The vending machine looked like it hadn’t worked in years. Damage to the room’s changing table, which could only have been made by ... (see photo). There’s more I could say, but this is enough. We booked a new hotel and left. The receptionist did offer us a cleaner room, to his credit, but I think “a cleaner room” says it all: an acknowledgement of the filthy state of the one we had. We didn’t feel at all safe or clean. Maybe it’s a cultural thing. I don’t know! It certainly wasn’t for these travelling Aussies. For friendly staff, this is your place. For cost, it’s definitely cheap. For cleanliness, sense of safety, and peace of mind, don’t stay here.
I came away with a nicotine habit
I’m not normally the harshest critic but I think it is fair to say this hotel was disgusting.. Upon check in @ 4:00pm, I had to wait 10 mins while the room was cleaned. That within itself didn’t bother me.. When I entered the room, the smell of nicotine was like a tangible wall. And while I get it was a smoking room and I don’t smoke, I don’t think the room had been aired out since 1982.. I don’t think the decor had been updated since then either. The room was nothing like it was advertised - see pictures. It was filthy dirty; the picture of the underside of my foot was after walking from the shower to the bed. The walls were stained and clogged with grime. There was no coffee facilities or kettle but there was a microwave, fridge and tv. The desk staff were lovely and friendly but the head house keeper was an obnoxious Humpty Dumpty. The worst thing was that all of my clothes and luggage now smell like stale ciggie smoke.. No star hotel
Dirty, Sticky, Smelly
I don't normally write review but everything about this place is gross. everything is sticky (the reception countertop, the desk in the room, the floor...) the 1st room smelled like an ash-try, I was told that was their "non-smoking room", so I switched rooms and found a slightly more tolerable smell instead. There are shopping carts in the courtyard, piles of garbage bags, The place is very dilapidated, walls are disgusting, furniture is falling apart, No TV remote, half the light bulbs are missing. Most importantly to me was that they don't have an iron or ironing board, I'm staying in town for business, and they don't even have an Iron at the front desk. - I generally don't mind a cheap motel, but this place is too much.
This hotel was probably something else...during the Johnson Administration (Andrew or Lyndon, take your pick). About the only thing one could recommend about this place is the price...but if you like freight trains passing by every other hours, you're in luck.
