Not go its cheap food its not eatable. Pool its like going back in time the 70s so the place is pretty but the service and everything else its not worth it. Its a waste of space, you can enjoy only the view.
In need of update
We arrived having booked two nights on two different reservations. Trying to communicate this with the receptionist who spoke no English was very frustrating. She was able to find the first reservation, not the second. We asked if anyone spoke any English (I even asked a few other guests), finally one of the guys setting up the dinning area found Paloma who was able to help. The room was not large, not small, but clean, with no a/c. They were setting up the dinning room for a party of some sort that had loud music playing until past 3:00 Between the heat, the music, the alarm clock going off at midnight and the mosquito that buzzed my ear half a dozen times, my sleep was intermittent the first night. No party the second night, so I slept really well. The hotel is 25 minutes outside of Guanajuato, but they have a shuttle that will take and pick you up at designated times. Wifi was free only in their tiny reception area which had no seating. This was once a very nice resort hotel, not everything is in need of an update that a large cash infusion would help. The areas that are used was generally clean, other areas are neglected (ie the black stair rails were grey with dust buildup). Not a bad place, and the price was good.
Where is the love ?
I really wanted to like this hotel. Stayed three days of Semana Santa week, the hotel was all I could find available on short notice. I very much want to save the haciendas of Mexico and would like to see this hotel succeed, but.... There is no love. It would only take work and love to fix up this hacienda. The location is 20 minutes outside Guanajuato, that is okay. 1. No water in the bathroom, really. It seems when they water the lawns and fill the pool the rooms don't get water 2. When the water goes back on, stand back when you open the faucet. Air builds up in the system and sprays water all over the bathroom. 3. Dirty, it would take so little to clean and paint the rooms 4. Breakfast by 9:30am they started to run out of food 5. Confused. They badly need a manager, someone needs to love this place. No one is in charge. Waiters leaving the dinning room in the middle of a meal to have a cigarette and check their cell phone? Hotel staff sitting in the halls hanging out ? The waiters stand outside the dinning room watching you as they have their cigarette. 6. Grounds, tennis court is an overgrown patch of asphalt, stone walls falling over, broken stairs, too many things broken Please, please get your act together, the hacienda deserves it
Very Picturesque but wouldn't stay again
Kind of a conflicted review to write because its a very picturesque old hacienda and its been 15 years since I've traveled in colonial Mexican towns and I guess I had expected the hotel standards to have come up a little from then and at least based on this place they haven't. I commented on how pretty and historic the place was and my son said that every time we visit a museum it doesn't give him the urge to sleep there. It is 25 minutes outside of Guanajuato which means every day you have to drive to town, find a place to park etc. and then after a day in town and night eating and having some drinks, you have to drive dark roads with multiple turns back to the hotel. We never would have done it without GPS and I was with Mexicans. I later read that they will shuttle you into town for $8 per person each way but I didn't get the details of this. The rooms were reasonably clean but the beds and blankets were old and uncomfortable. The mattress is on a pallet (no box spring). Sharing the bed with my son was very uncomfortable so between that and the 80 dogs barking in the pueblo next door, sleep was difficult. They are obviously trying to cut corners , they were stingy with the towels, toilet paper and we had to get tough on the complimentary breakfast which they didn't want to honor. My daughter had a bloody nose and got a little blood on the sheets and found that the next day they had just put the bloody spot at the foot of the bed. I didn't get too worried about it because it is a fairly safe part of Mexico, but the rooms are motel style with all external entrances and a 5 year old could have broken through these doors. Each door was thin wood panels with the equivalent of a standard bedroom door lock on it with the push button and a thin chain. No dead bolt at all. Again, not a terrible place, and the price was not too bad, and it is pretty but I think if you could afford it, it would be nicer just to find a place in Guanajuato and not worry about driving to town, parking, getting back etc.
What a joke, horrible hotel, do not stay here
I had to stay in this flea bag hotel because I had to visit Guanajuato on short notice on a holiday weekend. It is located 20 mins out of town in the middle of no where. The room was dirty, the sheets were nasty, I did not take my cloths off. They doble charged my card and I left early because my wife (who is mexican) was so upset with the lack of cleanliness of the entire hotel. The staff was of no help to us. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! You are better off staying in Leon. They should charge 20 USD a night becuase it is not worth a penny more.
