The location of the hotel just couldn't be better. It is located just a few steps from the central plaza and Teatro Juarez. But then you need to make a few steps up to the hotel. It is worth it because when you get to your window or a balcony it will take your breath away. I have been all over the world, but I can't remember a more spectacular view. The room itself was great, shower was great, patio was huge, so we loved it! As it is located right in the center, or rather above the center of Guanajuato, and it feels like a carnival city with lots of music and celebration, it is a bit noisy, but this is not a noise of cars or construction but the noise of happiness and celebration of life, so I am sure it would not bother you. It didn't bother us at all.
Great location, hotel needs work
Okay, there were a lot of stairs, but without the stairs you couldn't have the wonderful views. The bed was horribly uncomfortable. Seriously horribly uncomfortable, the sheets were very cheap, the towels likewise. The breakfast was pretty miserable. But, oddly, I liked it. I loved the view, I loved the location, right behind the theatre. If they bought new beds and pillows and decent towels, and at least made a halfway decent breakfast they'd go a long way toward being a good hotel. As it is, I can't really heartily recommend it. It was decently clean, the breakfast person was very nice, they rest of the staff we never interacted with much.
Bugs and food on walls, Plastic bottle to hold window open, The towels and curtains had stains and holes. Dirty comforter, Miss matching sheets. Had to lose a night and to to another hotel. Undeceiving pictures on their website !!!
We stayed here for a short visit to Guanajuato and it was such a disappointing experience. The website is completely misleading. These are not colourful chocolate themed room but tired old rooms that smell of bleach and blocked drains with brown paintwork and stained curtains. The room we stayed in was also incredibly noisy with no soundproofing from the music of the local bars pumping out tunes until 4am. Plus the wind rattled through the window making the room very cold. Continental breakfast was included but consisted of two slices of white toast with strawberry jam and juice or fruit. I informed the receptionist about the issues with the room when we checked out but she couldn't have been less interested or concerned. The hotel has wonderful views and is very well located for the centre of town but everything else was incredibly disappointing
Diasaponting and depressing...
The best things I can say are that the views are nice and the hotel is well located downtown and close to everything. However, the property is on a hillside and there are a LOT of stairs and no elevator. I would not recommend this hotel for the elderly, disabled or small children. Feels more like a hostel than a botique hotel as suggested. The property is old and in need of updating and upgrading throughout. Our room was large but dingy and depressing. The balcony was so small only one person could stand on it at a time and there was no room for any furniture on which to sit and enjoy the view. The included breakfast was a cup of weak coffee, a very small glass of watery orange juice and two slices of toasted white bread. One can order from the menu, which we did, but the prices are high and the food mediocre. We checked out just a few minutes after the noon check out time and were told to pay 100 pesos penalty . We paid 1,900 pesos with tax for one night, which seems high considering the quality of the hotel and all that it lacks. While in Guanajuato we checked around and there are nicer places that are also well located and a better value. We live in Mexico.
