Stayed in the third floor of the tree house. It has 360 degree views of the rainforest. There is a gas fireplace for chilly nights as well as a kitchen, futon sitting area, and bathroom with shower. It is just minutes from the national park and there are a few restaurants and small markets in Volcano Village. There is a nice outdoor sitting area. We really enjoyed this lodge and would love to return someday.
Well appointed suite for a comfortable stay

Perfect for our three day stay, the Pacific Island Studio was cosy and tastefully decorated in Hawaiian theme. We made use of the well-equipped kitchen facilities which gave us independence in cooking our own meals etc. The room and bed were warm, we didn't need to heat it up for long even though the weather outside was bleak. The towel warmers were a nice touch. The shower was 'low flow' so you need a little bit of patience with that. Enjoyed the quiet surrounds and the view of the tree ferns.
The self-checkin system worked well. Our host, Theresa, left very clear directions on how to find the accommodation and how to access the room. A little gem of a place, if visiting the area again in future will be keen to stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay here. The owners took great strides to ensure that we were comfortable throughout our stay. There was plenty of room and it felt like a cabin in the woods. The location is perfect for visiting the lava in the Volcanoes National Park.

Our stay at this cottage was outstanding! Randy was easy to get a hold of with quick replies back, to include accommodating our request for an early check-in. We booked the tree top suite which was wonderful! It came with everything we would need such as full size fridge, oven, all cooking utensils, plates, cups, etc. Bed was very comfortable and the electric fireplace was a nice addition on cold nights. Nice views from wrap around lanai. Highly recommend this place, we plan on booking it again on our next trip to the Big Island.
Great Property and Great Location

We stayed at Treehouse December 12 and 13 in the Pacific Island Studio room. We were a bit concerned about a few negative comments from previous reviewers. However, we were completely satisfied with our experience at Treehouse. The following are our comments:
Finding Treetops: As several have noted, Volcano is a very rural community. Narrow streets with no street lights. We relied on our GPS to find Treehouse after dark. Big mistake as GPS took us a quarter mile off target. We figured it out, but the best way to find Treehouse is to follow the directions in the email that the owners send after you reserve. The essence is if you are arriving from Hilo to turn left off the main Highway 11 at Pearl Street (just after mile marker 26) and then proceed to Eleventh Street. Turn left and Treetops is the second driveway on the left. There is lighted street number and a lighted “Treehouse” sign on Eleventh St, but both are set back and not immediately visible so slow down and watch carefully.
Parking: Once you enter the driveway, proceed on the drive to the back of the buildings. Arriving at night will be rather dark but once you turn left behind the last building, the spotlights will turn on lighting up the parking.
Treehouse is well lit, but as city folk, we expected more, so bringing a small flashlight is a not a bad idea.
Check-in: Treehouse has self check-in. Look for an envelope with your name on it on the small message board near the foot of the stairs. It has the directions as to how to unlock the door to your unit.
We stayed in the Pacific Island Studio. The photos on the internet were completely accurate. Absolutely delightful. Our general impression is that it is updated to have a rustic feel but with completely modern amenities. The unit is much larger than a typical hotel room. It has a full kitchen with basic cutlery, pots, pans etc. Internet is fast and TV is good. Gas fireplace for heat which was very romantic. Lots of other amenities including some snacks, two flashlights, bathrobes, slippers, heated towel rack etc.
Look for the binder in the room. It has lots of great info including the owners’ tips on the best things to see and do in the area. If you have any questions, just text message the owners. Cell number is on the Treehouse website. Teresa responded very promptly to all of our texts.
If you plan to make your own meals in Volcano, you should do your grocery shopping before you get to Volcano as there is very, very, limited grocery choices in town. We landed in Hilo and stocked up there. There is a Walmart superstore very near the airport and other grocery options close by.
Treehouse is located so close to the Volcano Park entrance that we did not bother making picnic lunches. We drove back to Treehouse for lunch. Super convenient.
I hope that this review proves helpful.
