I took my walking group of 11 to stay at The Pilgrim Hotel in June 2022 to do walks in Herefordshire. We were very pleased with our stay. The reception staff answer e-mails quickly and efficiently, when so many hotels these days don't even both to reply to e-mails. (This is the main reason why I chose this hotel in the first place.) They gave us a good value group deal to include 3 course dinner and breakfast. Not unreasonably with a large group, they wanted us to choose our evening meals in advance, which we did. The food was excellent, the orders accurate, we were all served together, and portions were a good size. Our rooms were lovely with stunning views. The hotel is easy to find and has a good sized car park, which was important for us. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it is a great location for country walking or visiting the historic city of Hereford.

Stayed here with my family for two nights while attending a wedding in Hereford. Good food, immaculately clean, very friendly staff. Nice decor. Lovely location on A49 with beautiful views from restaurant terrace. Warm welcome and excellent service. One of our rooms was wheelchair accessible as required and we were also pleased that help was willingly provided where needed to get around the hotel. Would stay here again.

a relaxing experience that I hope to repeat

I haven't stayed in a hotel for over twenty years so wasn't sure what to expect as the offer of bed, breakfast and evening meal for 2 seemed such good value compared to many other hotels we had looked at for our first venture of a hotel stay in so very long. I have to say I wasn't disappointed. Upon arrival we received a friendly welcome and were directed to a lovely en suite room that was spotlessly clean and spacious. The view of the valley was lovely and the decor very apt for a country hotel. The evening meal is not a la carte but the choice was excellent and all very well cooked and presented and considering it was included in the price of the deal we were not limited with what we could choose. The seafood combo was tasty and well cooked and just the right size for a starter. the chicken tikka masala served with all the accompaniments was excellent and the rum and raisin ice cream delicious. I did find the bed a bit too soft for my liking but I sleep on a 'slab of rock' according to some of my family members so not something I could really complain about. The only hiccup in the whole stay was that we couldn't get any hot water in the shower in the morning but the staff could not have been more helpful and arranged for us use another room - the first time I have ever walked the full length of a hotel in my night clothes - but better than a cold shower. This has not put me off from returning and hope to very soon. all in all a good experience and great value for money.

Nice country house hotel with friendly service and large rooms . Unfortunately the bed was too soft for my back and the steak too tough for my teeth . Apart from that everything was lovely . It’s a lovely area for walking and there are some fantastic views from the hotel .

Delicious Chef's Specials

I went with my mother, who is local for Saturday lunch. As long as they still have Deepak as chef always order the chef's specials. The Lamb Bhuna was mouth watering tender and not for the tender hearted as it had a deep satisfying heat to it. Excellent service and good value. Only disappointment was that there was no Guinness on tap....... Stowford Press made up for it!
