Finally a good French Hotel

Avaliou em 25 de fevereiro de 2023

Old, and based on refurbished buildings, and a very large room with elderly furniture. But an en-suite bigger than an Ibis room and a comfortable bed. Staff who are trained and provide exemplary service. A restaurant that meets expectations for both food and service. After several bruising days, this was a haven of relaxation.

Bad smell and not corteous personnel

Avaliou em 8 de novembro de 2022

We called late in the evening, around 9 pm and asked for 4 rooms next to each other to accommodate 4 adults and 4 kids. We were told they were available but had 3 rooms next to each other, we have small kids, and one distant. No problem. When we arrived at around 11pm we were told that only 2 rooms were next to each other: very disappointed. We took the rooms and we split the families in order to be with the small kids. 2 rooms in one annex, 1 room in another annex and the other room in the castle. We were told no other rooms were available in the property When I finally got to my room (number 206) in the castle the smell was incredible: you had the impression you were in a toilet. My daughter was to tired and immediately fell asleep and I didn't want to leave her alone and put her thru the change of rooms. In the morning I told the reception and was told that they already knew about the problem but gave me the room anyway. Very bad attitude and not at all customer friendly.

Disappointing

Arrived and welcomed beautifully by the receptionist. It was then explained that our reservation was not in the main building but outside in the stables. This hotel only has 8 rooms in the main building all others are outside in either the stables or courtyard. Not a major problem but always good to know in advance. On entering our very pretty bedroom we were hit by a stale, sweaty feet odour. we returned to reception and the receptionist very kindly showed us several lovely rooms for us to choose from and we were very happy with our choice. We then went to the bar for pre dinner drinks and met an elderly couple who were having problems with a taxi, they then explained that they had booked accommodation but the hotel had no tables available for them to eat in the restaurant, a second thing thats handy to know in advance ! The restaurant is very tired, we sat at a table and asked the waitress to raise the blind , she then explained that it was broken. The blinds were at all different heights and I suggest that if they are broken, either repair them, take them down OR simply pin them in place so it all looks even. Starters were very nice but when it came to the main course the risotto was badly overcooked and resembled mash potato , the waitress agreed and offered another but my husband by this time was half way through his main course so declined the offer. Breakfast , a self service buffet ran out of croissants , how can this happen in France ? Checking out complained to a different receptionist and asked to speak to the manager, no one was available as it was the weekend, a third thing thats handy to know. The bill was reduced by 10% but all in all a very disappointing stay at this chateau.

Great hotel. Lovely staff. We have stayed here many many times. Unfortunately the restaurant has gone downhill, we will not eat here again. Last straw was all hot breakfast items, sausages, ham and scrambled egg bing stone cold yesterday, broken heater and the staff were aware , very poor.

FADED GLORY!

This used to be one of our favourite French hotels in the past, which we used to visit often. However on our return we were very disappointed at how the current owners have underinvested and allowed standards to slip. We stayed in a more expensive room in the Chateau, but despite the lovely garden view, there were serious issues. 1. Paint peeling around widow frames which will rot if not redecorated soon. Also masonry paintwork outside our windows flaking badly. We noticed because it was a beautiful sunny evening & we opened all the windows for the lovely view of the garden. 2. Painfully slow WiFi (4 Mbs download speed) Najiti need to pay ISP more for a better package 3. No coffee or tea- making facilities in bedroom. Most decent hotels do provide now to cater for UK & USA guests who expect these facilities. Excuse given by staff was that kettles are stolen. We run a “B&B” & have never experienced this, & if so the hotel can deduct money from dishonest guests’ credit cards. 4. No retaining clip above head height in bath for shower head, meaning one could not stand to have a shower without having to hold shower head above one - most inconvenient & uncomfortable. 5. Sun loungers in garden worn out & in need of replacement - very uncomfortable & possibly dangerous as material looks as if it could give way anytime. 6. Dogs in restaurant - we do not like. Not healthy! And some growl & bark at each other. We stayed at 6 different accommodations on our tour to Provence & back at about the same price point (180 - 220 euros b&b, including tax & service) & am sorry to report that Najiti was at the bottom of our table! On the plus side - the Staff were very pleasant, our bed was comfortable & bed linen immaculate, the room was clean, bathroom generally ( & one of the few we stayed in to have a shaver socket to charge our electric toothbrush. And the extensive hotel grounds were pleasant to walk around despite the flower beds looking neglected (but - drought/end of summer).
