Delightful stay at The Waltzing Weasel

When we arrived at the Waltzing Weasel we were warmly greeted by the bubbly owner Carol who showed us to our very spacious, characterful room, furnished with walk-in closet, dressing table, 2-seater couch and en-suite bathroom. After a comfortable nights sleep, we awoke the next morning cured of our jet-lag and ready for our day excursion to the town of Bakewell. Carol prepared a delicious, hearty Full English breakfast, introducing us to Black Pudding for the first time. After breakfast, Carol shared her fascinating and vast knowledge of the High Peak area and history of the Waltzing Weasel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Waltzing Weasel and regard it as high value for money.

Stunning family run boutique bed and breakfast, situated 10 minutes walk from Hayfield and five minute drive from New Mills, We stayed in a wonderfully presented superior double room with super comfy, huge four poster bed, beautiful quirky and stylish furniture and the added bonus of fantastic views of kinder scout and surrounding area. Carol was a wonderful host from the minute we arrived, the breakfast was delicious, with fresh coffee, juice and milk in little bottles that fondly reminded me of being at school. Perfect location, perfect rooms and perfect hosts.

Excellent location for Kinder Scout walks

A couple in Room 6 “family room” on the first floor. Plenty of on-site free parking. Carol the owner was a delight. Very chatty, friendly, welcoming and full of local knowledge and advice. She had also ensured the room was nice and warm before we arrived as it had been pretty cold. The room itself was large with an impressive, larger than double bed plus a single bed and a sofa. The view was perfectly looking at Kinder Scout and a pair of binoculars were provided to get a closer look. Plenty of storage space and clean. And a good selection of much needed refreshments. It was also very peaceful. Bathroom was large, bright and included both a shower and a lovely deep roll top bath. The bath was the reason I booked the room as I knew I’d be aching after the hike up Kinder scout! The B&B is located an easy 10 min leisurely stroll to the main area of Hayfield where there are several pubs and places to eat. It’s also a handy 5 min drive to the Kinder Scout hike start point car park. Breakfast was excellent. Continental available. Full English was cooked to perfection and not lacking anything. In fact I couldn’t finish it but it set set us up for the day. The dining area was bright and clean and meeting other guests and chatting with Carol is always fun. She clearly has good staff working for her. Overall, I’d highly recommend this B&B.

Daughter’s Birthday Stay

Stayed for one night as part of our daughter’s birthday celebrations. Carol was extremely accommodating, allowing us to drop off flowers & a balloon the day before and then lovely & welcoming on arrival. We had both the four-poster room & a twin room for the kids, both of which were exceptional & really good value for money. Breakfast the next morning was fabulous & we all enjoyed the warm, friendly & relaxed atmosphere, filling up for the days activities ahead. Although we’ve stayed here previously, we will definitely return in the future and recommend to all if you’re looking for an amazingly friendly & welcoming stay as a base for exploring this part of the high peak. Excellent Stay

Came for a short solo trip around the Peaks. Ran by friendly staff and had a great breakfast which was perfect for a long walk ahead. The room was clean tidy and felt modern, I loved the skylight which looked onto the hills. The bathroom was spacious and again very clean. Fantastic location, no messing about with parking as you can park on site and it sits between two small towns which not far down the road which makes it ideal for grabbing an evening meal. Would happily stay again.
