An old but beautiful interior, had its issues!

On arrival the reception hall is stunning, very well decorated and just look up!! Entering our room we had no electricity, easily fixed by maintenance with in 5 mins. Following morning same problem but we were checking out so wasn’t an issue for us. Room telephone also not working which was an issue during the night as from 1am to 6am our neighbours in the floor decided sleep wasn’t what they wanted! Whether they were drunk revellers or family if kids who couldn’t sleep due to jet lag the constant shouting and door banging left us with a very poor nights sleep! We did shout down the corridor once but couldn’t work out which rooms were involved! And sadly as the phone wasn’t working contacting reception wasn’t straight forward. We didn’t eat brekkie in the hotel as Brighton has many sea front restaurants just a short walk away. Overall we had a lovely time in Brighton but the price of the room at the Mecure was not worth the money in my book! Will be seeking a different hotel next time
Beautiful hotel, but reception staff be more efficient

Although we regularly stay in Mercure hotels, this was our first visit to the Brighton Mercure. We arrived earlier than check in time, but only wanted to leave a small case while we walked around the city. I said to the receptionist (the same as I've said when I've visited other Mercure hotels): "I know we're too early for check in, but could we leave our case please?" The receptionist was very brusque and told us we were too early for check in. I had to explain again that we only wanted to leave our case, which we were able to do. When we returned later we were able to check in and retrieve our case, but I did have to mention that I was an Accor Silver member to check the booking was recorded under my membership number. This (different) receptionist said "That's a good job you mentioned it because I didn't see it, but I can see now". Although I was given a complementary drink ticket, no mention was made of late check out, so we checked out at the usual time. I have to say though, the room we booked was wonderful - spacious, clean, sea view, rainforest shower, very comfortable bed, quality bed linen, Nespresso machine, fridge, safe, although no bathrobes or slippers (as advertised in Privilege room description) I can't comment on food as we don't eat breakfast and had reservation elsewhere for dinner, but the bar was very nice, with a great choice of drinks and long opening hours.
Nice hotel, terrible management

Everyone who works here are doing their best to make your stay pleasant, the rooms are small but nicely done and the lobby and bar are nicely decorated. The management completely let the staff and guests down by the comically poor show of food at breakfast and when it does arrive, is pretty sub standard. The staff do a good job trying to humour guests whilst waiting but ultimately would return here.

We have just returned home after a wonderful week at the Mercure Brighton Seafront. We arrived at the weekend and there was a wedding so everything was fully booked and we were given a room overlooking a small inner garden. The room was nice and had everything we needed for a comfortable few days but Monty, at reception, noticing that we were staying for a whole week, was kind enough to move us the next day to a room with a sea view. We have only words of gratitude for Monty. From the first minute he looked after us with unbeatable professionalism and kindness. He was always ready to help and to make sure we enjoyed our stay to the maximum. To be honest all the hotel staff were friendly and always willing to help. The hotel is old and maintains the charm of another era but with all the modern comforts. The room was large, with great sea views, modern bathroom with shower and with all the amenities...coffee maker, kettle, safe, hairdryer, iron.... The breakfast buffet was nothing spectacular but had everything you need for a full English or occidental breakfast so nothing to complain here either. The staff, as in the rest of the hotel, always very friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back again and recomend it to my family and friends. Monty, greetings from Spain!!!! Thanks again for everything.
