Malolo was a great pick, owned by Fijians and completely staffed by Fijians. Book and Fly to Nadi. It’s the closest airport and easy. Malolo Island resort organised all transfers which were seamless. We had a very early departure on our last day (445am!) and didn’t wait at any point and plenty of time at the airport. First day, collect from Nadi Airport by Rosi Holidays to Port Denarau, quick look around the port, then a fast private boat to Malolo by SeaFiji. There is a supermarket at the port and also a bottle shop, it’s the last time you will see any shops, so it’s a good idea to stock up on some snacks, chocolate, wine, spirits etc - doing some sunset drinks back at your Bure is well worth it. You can buy mixers and water on the island. FOOD/DRINKS There’s 3 restaurants - Tree Tops - white table cloths, really nice food. Adults only, tasty! The other Family Restaurant is where you have breakfast, you can choose from a continental or full, also a buffet bbq on Wednesday and Saturday night is family night! Cocktails, dancing and a Lovo - big BBQ. Crabs, lobster, fish and salads, amazing! The last place is the Beach Bar, great for lunch and to watch the sunsets which are amazing. Good pizza and daily chef specials, chilled. There’s not alot to choose from and that’s what’s really nice about it, no stress, no deciding where to go and the food is simple and tasty. I tried all the cocktails, the smoothies were the best. The free pot of coffee at breakfast is better than paying for fancy coffee. WATER SPORTS One of the best things about Malolo is you can go swimming morning noon and night straight off the beach or from your room. High tide and low tide offer really good snorkelling. There are stand up paddle boards, snorkelling gear, Hobie Sailing Boats and kayaks, all free to use while you’re there. Everyday they have a couple of snorkelling trips for about FJD$55 Adult These are great, you follow a guide in the water and snorkel for about an hour, the boat rides are great too, you see some Islands and reefs. Castaways is a good trip, I think Barrier was my fav. You can also do a island hopping, pub crawls and many other days trips. You get a little newsletter every night on your pillow with what’s going on the next day. There’s no cars on the island, just boats and you walk everywhere. FIJI TIME This is the best, you can completely relax, do nothing, swim, eat, chill in one of the hammocks (there’s so many spots to choose) swim in the pool, and relax in the ocean view Bure. You start talking to the other guests a couple of days in when you start to relax. There is no distractions, no tvs, wifi only at the pool area up top and also at the beach bar, so phones etc are all off. STAFF I’ve saved the best til last, that’s the people! The staff and in fact all the people that we met along the way are so humble, helpful and beautiful and that is something we will take away from this trip. All the staff in Malolo are Fijian and a lot have worked at the resort for 10plus years! I’ll be coming back to see them that’s for sure and to enjoy the island again You have a chance to have a full reset on this island, to swim, chill and do nothing! Very few decisions to make in a day, and it was great! Make sure you don’t miss the Kava ceremony one always opt for high tide, you’ll thank me and have the best sleep ever, maybe don’t have an early trip booked the next day! ITEMS TO BRING! It’s a good idea to pack a pair of reef shoes. You can buy on Malolo or at Port Denarau. Couple pairs of swimmers, rash vests and shorts to swim / sail in. It’s pretty hot in the sun. Snacks and drinks to enjoy back at your Bure. Lots of sun screen Snorkels if you want your own, the gear on the island is still good. Some cash money to spend at the local Village to purchase crafts (not what you need, but it helps local economy, and better than buying in the Port or Airport) Long sleeve shirts to wear to the village (make sure you put on aero guard before village visit, I got smashed by mosquitoes on the village visit and I’m still scratching) Underwater style camera - Go Pro or similar (we forgot and I won’t next time) Personal speaker - to play some tunes back at your Bure. They have some roving musicians on the island and some really bad music in the bars at times. Download some movies, shows, tunes prior to leaving - wifi is not great. you’ll have WhatsApp and Facebook that’s about all. Pack of cards / or similar games. Book your trip, don’t delay, I’m not working for the Island or receiving any kickbacks. However if you book before Dec 23rd and travel next March or Nov you’ll pay for 5 nights and get 7!

We just spent 10 days at Malolo Island resort reuniting with our Canadian family. The moment we walked onto the jetty we felt so unbelievably welcome. Malolo Island staff are so friendly and helpful and genuinely invested in guests having a great experience. Over the 10 days we snorkelled, kayaked, sailed in the catamarans, had a tour of the local village, snorkelled at Mushroom Reef, enjoyed a day trip to Cloud Nine, enjoyed a trip to Monuriki Island and surrounds, had a beach side picnic and a birthday dinner on the jetty. On quiet days we lounged by the pools, enjoyed the pool cocktail specials, read in hammocks, and watched many sunsets. We tasted (and loved) all the menu items at the Beach bar, enjoyed 2 lovely buffets, and dinners at the Terrace restaurant, we also explored an array of cocktails. The room was spacious, clean with very comfortable beds. Between 2 families our kids were aged 16,14,12,and 8 and they kept busy the entire time. A big Vinaka to the absolutely wonderful staff who really made the trip extra special. We can’t wait to get back to Malolo.

Well I do not know where to start, this place is beyond amazing!! Exceeded all expectations in all areas!! Food was incredible, which helped being on the meal plan - especially as we had a teenager with us! Our rooms were beautiful, with vies of the sea and a hammock outside - we had a deluxe, sea view room. Plenty of room for a couple and 1 teenager, great air conditioning and very comfortable beds!! We took advantage of all the water sports on offer, and the staff were helpful to give tips on how to use the equipment and safety was really important to them. Was easy to book the gear and had our own snorkel gear to use for the whole week! Lots of options to sit and relax around the resort, especially the pool area. There is wifi in the restraints and pool area, it was nice with no TV and limited access to internet - a real break!! But what really made it were the people working at the resort!! They went out of their way everyday, so friendly and helpful!! Incredible especially Jess- activities, Tia-hospitality, Mia - best walking guide, Jim - operations manager and Mirry - housekeeping. We felt so looked after, and it felt that we were leaving our new family!! Best resort ever!! Just go!!!!

This is an amazing island. We had a full meal package which was worth it. Great food & a good choice considering the size of the resort. We enjoyed cocktails often ( not part of the package) . As with most of Fiji they are dear compared to Oz. We did snorkeling every day & just off the beach was spectacular with colourful corals & fish. The snorkeling gear was new & worked well. Also had access to kayak, paddle board & other non- motorised equipment . Did a pub-crawl that took us to Cloud 9. Worth every dollar! A must! Would go back there again , & great job by manager Zack & excellent staff.
