Sleep Inn Charles City
Friendly front desk associates. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Appears to be recently remodeled. Breakfast was above and beyond our expectations. Breakfast attendants were friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.
A great value
I stay here probably 15 times a year as we have a factory in town and it’s a good place to stay, mostly refurbished in last coupe years, staff is small town friendly. Would give 5 rating when they replace the beds with more modern pillow top. Always clean and relatively quiet.
Clean, quiet, affordable hotel room
Check-in was easy. Stayed in first floor room with wife and two kids. Room was clean, and we were able to adjust the temperature quickly as it was blazing hot, initially. Breakfast started at 7am Sat/Sun and quickly filled. Satisfactory food for the price paid. Hot food: coffee, eggs, bacon, waffle-maker, gravy for a cold biscuit. A few cereals, donuts, bagels, and fruit juice. Oldest child enjoyed the pool. However, temperature gauge on their wall said it was in the mid-60's, and they had ceiling fans going as well, so it was pretty chilly. Also, the emergency phone in the pool area is not connected, and looks like it has been that way for some time.. a bit concerning. The front desk gentleman was friendly enough, saying hello. I asked about potential snow and he said he didn't know. A chance to go above and beyond by checking quickly while I was walking past the front desk several times loading our car. Not a big deal though. Bottom line: Safe, clean hotel that is affordable for families and other travelers.
Great hotel for a small community
This hotel was very busy. I would recommend a couple of things (1) a larger dining room; and (2) lids for the room toilets. There were children running up and down the halls during evening hours, which is always disruptive, but nothing when we wanted to go to bed. I would also recommend that the kitchen staff warm up the crock pot before putting in the gravy for the biscuits (breakfast). The gravy was cold; this wouldn't happen if the crock pot was warm before putting in the gravy.
Very clean place to stay
We were checked in to a spotless room by a friendly person at the desk. Our room was also very quiet, even though our room faced the front of the building. The only problem we encountered was by the time we had taken our showers, the water was up ast our ankles-the drain didn’t drain properly. Same issue with the sink. We can never understand how the person who cleans the bathroom doesn’t notice the drain needs work. However when we went to breakfast, again the breakfast area was spotless and perfect. Mary Ann, the sweet older lady, kept every inch very clean and stocked. It was so nice to see an employee with a great outlook, cheerful and with such a great work ethic. There was much to choose from: scrambled eggs, sausage, French toast, cereals, muffins, rolls, oatmeal and more. If Mary Ann is working when you stop, give her a great tip that she deserves!
