Lovely and relaxing!

We just returned from a 4-night midweek special stay at this gorgeous resort. Our tropical view room was spacious, comfortable and the best part was the full-size refrigerator and microwave so we could have an easy breakfast and keep all of our drinks available. We were in the 420 building which was a short walk to both the pool and the beach which felt deserted most of the time. We did not eat at the resort as we had a list of local restaurants to try. We did get drink service at the pool one afternoon and found it very pricey. Islamorada has SO many great restaurants close by and we went to many. I definitely recommend Lorelis and Lazy Days. Very disappointed in the Islamorada Brewery Distillery and the Keys Brewing Co. We went to the activity desk each day to get either a paddle board or to inquire about a sandbar trip and found that the workers were either new (clueless) or snotty, so that was a little negative. As a previous reviewer mentioned, at times it seemed like a ghost town. I was at the pool before 9 am each day and there were no employees and very few guests. We did enjoy seeing the many dogs that were taking part in their owners' vacations during our stay. The front desk staff was very friendly and courteous. Housekeeping was available to us every day, but we only asked for service one day, Security around the resort was non-existent except someone occasionally sitting at the entrance. We know the hospitality industry is minimally staffed everywhere and it is evident here. We also went to the Museum on the grounds of the resort and was completely surprised on how small it was. We watched one film on the Flagler Railroad for 30 minutes and walked through the exhibits in less than 10 minutes. We would stay here again as this property seemed like the premier location in Islamorada. It is just unfortunate that travel/hospitality is not the same anymore.

Not much bang for your buck

Do the math before considering to stay. The resort was beautiful, but staying one night it isn't money well spent. Couldn't check in until 4:00 and had to leave the next morning. Missed the best part of the day and things were winding down, the majority of time at the resort was spent sleeping. Beachside bar closes at 10:00, assuming you hurry up and check in you don't have much time to enjoy the resort.

Pretty Resort

Stayed at the Islander Resort for a family Destination Wedding. For the first time in a long time, our flight arrived early and made it to the resort 2 hours before check in. The team member that signed me in said if the room becomes available she would gladly call me so that she could check me in sooner. She handed me a map of the resort and directed me to the bar. Two hours later a friend of mine arrived at the bar and stated she just arrived and was all ready checked in. 🤨 So I did not get “The Call”. Just then, a torrential rainstorm dumped massive amounts of rain in just minutes. Don’t worry it’s Florida ~ it’s over in 5 minutes LoL. Unfortunately, the parking lot that you have to walk through to get to the room was a now a lake and my husband and I had to “swim” with our luggage to get to the room. We reserved a Tropical/Garden View room because I was told the Beach View rooms were for the bridal party and immediate family only. Our room was pretty. Looked newly renovated with a spacious, not completely private lanai. There is a large armoire to store formal clothes and a big dresser with plenty of space to store everything in your luggage. They provide a hand steamer Rather than an iron and ironing board so you have to find a spot to hang your clothes to steam them. There is a bumper rod on the top of the bathroom door so we used that. The bathroom amenities were Paul Mitchell & Aveda (my favorite) products. The bathroom sink is not inside bathroom. You have to step outside into the entrance way of the room to wash your hands. The lighted mirror is very dim and the entrance pedant lighting is not bright enough to see anything you are trying to do such as shave or put on makeup. The only other mirror is the one full length behind the bathroom door in the poorly lit entrance area. In this same area is a refrigerator and a coffee station with some backlighting but not enough to make a difference. There is a safe in the lower part of the coffee bar but ours did not lock/work. Friends were meeting up at a nearby restaurant so we did not eat at the restaurant in the resort. Luckily, we were able to park right in front of our room so we didn’t have to walk through the “lake” again. In the morning I looked up the menu for breakfast. It seemed to be a bit pretentious for my husband, he’s a regular omelet type of guy so I found a place 2 minutes from the resort that we liked so much we went again the next day.  Today was wedding day so many of friends and family were preparing for it so it was pretty quiet. The “lake”surrounding the parking lot had receded nicely due to the large drainage system they have (that must happen a lot). There are 2 saltwater pools. The larger pool has lounge chairs surrounding it. The smaller pool closer to the bar has table and chairs around it. The “beach” area is the length of the resort but technically it’s not a beach because I was completely unaware that in this part of the Keys there isn’t sand and it’s not possible to swim there. 🤨 I was informed that the beach is made of crushed coral which is hard to walk on without shoes. There were towel attendants but no other servers. The Wedding Venue building at the resort is conveniently situated closed to the rooms so if you forgot something or need to go back, it’s just across the way. The servers and staff were attentive and everyone seemed to have a job to do to make the wedding go smoothly. The food was okay. I had the fish and my husband had the steak which he mentioned was very over cooked for his liking. I loved that the bride chose to serve cupcakes instead of the typical wedding cake. I really can’t review further about any wedding details but as a guest I enjoyed the evening.

It was enjoyable but they don't have 2 restaurants, no room service, called their restaurant to make an order 5xs & nobody answered. Receptionist sd their busy. Walk up there. It wasn't. Pina colada tasted like iced Bacardi. Room was nice & our porch. For the price it was adequate. Probably won't stay there again.

In one word...FABULOUS

This place was a surprise from the time we opened the door to our room. Beautifully furnished, vaulted ceilings, kitchenette, screened in porch, outdoor lanai, humongous beach, beach canopies, 2 pools, good restaurant, shuttles, nice staff. We extended our stay twice!! We didn't want to leave. One of my new favorite places.
