Everything was great while we were there, with the exception of the restaurant. The server was nice, but service was very slow and food was mediocre. The rooms were clean and fresh. The location was perfect for getting around Ithaca.
Ithaca--A New York State of Mind

Tourist in My Own State" by Jodie Gould My husband and I spent two days in Ithaca, New York, the scenic collegetown in the heart of the Fingers Lakes. There’s so much to do and see there, and you don’t have to be a student to have a great time. We stayed at Hotel Ithaca, which added a wing of rooms with spacious terraces. It has a cushy lobby (pool under renovation when we were there), and an on-site pub and grille called Ithaca Social. If you want centrally-located accommodations with parking, and housekeeping by request so you won’t be disturbed by a knock on your door—this hotel is for you. Ithaca is a culinary hub, so there are plenty of great restaurants to choose from. We went to Agava for dinner our first night, an excellent, reasonably-priced Southwestern restaurant filled with colorful Mexican art. I had a classico margarita, and we shared a delicious seared tuna tostada on a crispy tortilla with black beans, guacamole, black salsa, pico de gallo, and mixed greens. Must-dos in Ithaca include a visit to a few of the 150 waterfalls and the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. I recommend Buttermilk Falls, which has well-marked trails and awe-inspiring rock formations sculpted from centuries of cascading water; Taughannock Falls (Ta-gan-ik) has the tallest single-drop waterfall in the east (a flat, easy trail compared with Buttermilk’s steep steps, if mobility is an issue). Stop into Goose Watch Winery (goosewatch.com) for some Pinot Grigio or get an IPA at Liquid State Brewery. Our hotel was near the Commons, a pedestrian piazza filled with boutiques, bookstores, and local bohemians. Take a stroll around the sprawling Cornell campus; cross the footbridge overlooking Triphammer Falls; and stop into the Johnson Museum designed by I.M. Pei for a breathtaking view of the lake and surrounding area. If you have time, see a show or concert at the Ithaca College Theatre, a feeder school for actors and musicians. On our last day we took a cruise with Discover Cayuga Lake, where the crew taught us about marine ecology. We were given binoculars to spot ospreys, cormorants, and bald eagles swooping onto branches. The boat stopped so we could collect and view plankton samples under microscopes (allow an hour and a half; there’s also a sunset cruise). Afterwards, we headed to Coltivare, a yummy farm-to-table restaurant that partners with Tompkins Community College. We split the Vegetable Flatbread, a soft bread topped with veggies, butternut squash puree, shredded mozzarella and smoked gouda and the Warm Spring Medley salad with brussel sprouts, local greens chickpeas, spiced cauliflower, and local feta tossed in sweet garlic chili sauce. We left Ithaca feeling as though two days was not enough! Best time to go—spring, summer, and autumn.

Excellent location. Short walk to The Commons. Great staff. Very clean hotel and room well equipped and good size. Will definitely stay there again! Parking at hotel somewhat limited but we arrived vety laze at night. Otherwise perfectly located hotel.

We rented a premium room that was not clean and it had a stopped up sink with standing water. It was discolored so it had been there for a while. For the price I was expecting more. The staff were nice and professional and the location in downtown Ithaca is excellent.

We stayed at the Hotel Ithaca as part of a wedding block. We were very happy with the location and the look of the lobby, and the rooms are modern, spacious and clean. You do have to reach far into the shower to turn on the water and adjust the temp, but the water pressure was great. The room could could use a luggage rack or bench.
