Basic room with nice property

Avaliou em 27 de abril de 2022

The property is beautiful. The rooms are basic. Good bed but pillows are small and thin, needs to be replaced. Shower looses the hot water after about 2 minutes. Staff are nice but very slow with assisting. Has 2 nice pools, you can rent kayaks.

Amazing View of Lago de Izabal

Overall a nice experience staying over the weekend at Banana Palms. For 3 adults and 2 children we stayed at the two bedroom suite. Room was very nice and beds allow a nice sleep. Facilities are a bit old but clean enough to enjoy the stay. Major improvement area is the swimming pool area, not suitable for the night since there are no lights, also the floor around the pool needs some repair. As of the best of the hotel, the restaurant and view of Lago de Izabal is just amazing, you can also enjoy free Kayak and take a boat for the Castillo de San Felipe (additional charge) easily. The hotel has various decks to enjoy the view. Food is well served and at very convenient price, tostones and sea food are highly recommended.

Great location Poot service

Staff disgruntled and miserable. Location outstanding. Amenities outstanding. Food and drinks great. They’re not attentive at all and they look and most of time. I asked for extra toilet paper and I was given napkins because they couldn’t find the housekeeping person.

Stunning location at the lakeside

We stayed here overnight as part of a tour. We liked the simplicity of the rooms and the "jungle" feel to the layout. The hotel is a bit remote if you do not have transport available and therefore restricted to dining at the hotel, however the meals were good and varied. The jetty out onto the lake is a wonderful place to watch the sunset and the stars. The jungle feeling is enhanced with a number of Agouti roaming around the grounds. Our room did not have a safe deposit but this did not cause us any great problem. A trip down the river to Livingston is well worth it with lots of wildlife en-route and lunch at the Happy Fish restaurant in Livingston makes the trip.vgggggg

Excellent stay

I booked for 3 nights and I ended up staying longer. The hotel is in a gorgeous location by the lake. The area has not much to do (you can walk to the Castle but this take not longer than an hour to be visited) for the rest, you need either to book a boat or a taxi to go around. The hotel rooms need some improvement but they are spacious and confortable. The hotel is slowly renovating and I believe in the future will get even better. I stayed in Villa 101 that had a massive double room and a twin room with a spacious bathroom and a gorgeous porch with a hammock overlooking the lake. Internet works fine even from that room. Not sure about the others. The restaurant is really good. Great breakfast and also, fantastic menu. The customer service is attentive but sometimes a bit slow. The hotel has available boats to rent. Also, for 200 Quetzales you can arrange your pick-up from the hotel to Livingston (return ticket in the day for that price) Reception can help you with it. During my stay, there weren’t many people and it was a really relaxing experience. Gorgeous sunsets. I strongly recommend this hotel to disconnect and enjoy a few days doing nothing!
