Bring Your Ear Plugs
The good news: the bed is comfortable, the room furniture is of good quality and the staff is friendly & helpful. The bad news: paper-thin walls & ceilings and a noisy hotel shuttle van means you'll be awakened numerous times each night during your stay unless you have earplugs or a sound machine. I stayed two nights in mid December. Both nights, I could hear people in neighboring rooms chatting and their television stations booming as if they were in my room. One night the inhabitant of the room above me obviously decided to use the restroom at 3 a.m. and I could hear the thumping of feet as he/she walked and even heard their bed springs creak when they returned to bed. And WORST OF ALL, the hotel has a shuttle that drives guests to the airport frequently. Unfortunately, each time the van leaves, it backs up setting off a beep-beep-beep warning signal that resounds right into any room on the front side of the hotel. The shuttle appears to have its first run at 5:40 a.m. (since that is when the beeping awoke me both days) and then repeats twice per hour thereafter. It is like you are in a bad dream...trying to doze off only to have the beeping occur over & over again. I am not a light sleeper...I am a world's traveler. But this hotel's noise level means I won't return as a guest despite the good staff, nice furnishings and pandemic-lowered prices.
Updated and nice but no Bistro?
We were on our way to southern Florida and wanted to stop for the night; so we booked at the Courtyard just off I-95 in Jacksonville, prior to going via I-10 in the morning. We found this hotel quite pleasant, with a nice, modern room that had been cleaned well (TV remote in a separate bag!). The check-in was smooth and friendly. The room was small but very nice. Perfect for an overnight. Only two complaints: No Netflix or other streaming channels, and The Bistro was open for only this night before closing. One of the reasons we always pick Courtyards on the road is for The Bistro, a great place to get a large salad for dinner, Starbucks in the morning, and perhaps breakfast. The food has consistently been good. No idea why this Bistro is closing but I think it is a loss. The English woman who rain it was terrific. Further, in this COVID era, it was so disappointing and unnerving to see how few of the guests wore masks, despite the Marriott mask policy. The Marketplace was miniscule.
A decent hotel with a convenient location.
Our hotel room was comfortable and decent overall. Some of the wallpaper in the bathroom wasn’t as clean as it should’ve been and the the bathtub drain wouldn’t stay open. Other than those small quibbles, everything else was more than satisfactory. The hotel is conveniently located right off of I-95, which was a major reason we chose this hotel. It is also within a short driving distance to numerous restaurants and shops. This hotel is a good, solid choice for those traveling long haul on the interstate.
Receipts
How hard is it to change your credit card from a different credit card?? How complicated is it to remove your tax from your receipt??. Answer it is hard for miss J of courtyard. I reserved this hotel for one night due to the location near the airport with a different credit card the one on my profile. When I checked in I informed them that I need to change the credit card and they swiped my card that the charged suppose to be on. I also filled in the tax exempt. So I think I am good. But, no I got my statement in my email with tax and different credit card. So early in the morning I went to the desk and informed the receptionist that my statement still have tax and my old card, she change it and said no problem. Come to checked out around 7 am, I checked out in the front desk and miss j give me my receipt with still, wrong information. It took her a while before she removed the tax. I had to tell her to put in credit to remove it. Well I do not know once I get my statement if it’s correct or the charge still there. I been to many hotels with the same scenario and they do it right on the spot with quickness.Thanks miss j, for taking your sweet time learning how remove the tax. Luckily I had plenty of time to make my flight.
Not Marriott quality we are used to. sorry I wasted my Marriott points
We recently stayed here at the start of a vacation because our flight landed late and figured we'd just stay close for that night and then get on with the fun. While we recognized that this was just a basic hotel we were very surprised at the condition of the hotel and our room and extremely disappointed to start a trip in such conditions. The staff was fine it was the dated condition of the hotel and especially our room. The bathroom was in awful shape, the heat/ac unit noisy and the digital part unreadable so we were struggling to adust the temperature. I used up points to stay here and that left me feeling like I blew it on the wrong place. Will not stay here again and do not recommend. I don't care that it isn't fancy but I can't settle for unclean. Renovations are needed because it wasn't the cleaning staff it is the condition of the place!
