The staff gave off the impression that they were just doing their job and weren’t really interested in me...and I thought that was great! The room was pretty comfortable and there were lots of nooks and crannies to hang out in: a forestside patio, free manga room, free massage chairs, video game arcades. The food was okay but there was a lot of it. ¥1500 all you can drink—and you get to pour your own drinks! The bath was big and clean and the showerheads had AMAZING water pressure. Very relaxing!

The hot spring bath in the hotel was good, and the room for 3 adults were really nice, clean and quiet. However, the staff were not very friendly. Whatever you asked them, they were impatient and not helpful. The access is also not very good. It is basically impossible to get to the hotel without a car. There are nothing but forest around this hotel. You may take a 1.1km walk to the main street. Moreover, We were told the time for dinner was set in 2 sections. But when we went to the restaurant on time, no one is checking anything there!! The whole restaurant was a mess. Dishes and glasses used already were scattered here and there on tables. Maybe it is because it charged only about ￥10,000 per person per night during a long weekend. The breakfast and dinner were really terrible. Although both breakfast and dinner were served in all-you-can-eat buffet, there were really nothing good to taste. Cheap and artificial drinks/soup, cold fried food, frozen sashimi… I swear the food in any convenience store is much better. It was the worst food I have ever had in a Japanese "Ryokan." If you can ignore the bad quality food, the hotel is not a bad choice considering its price, room and good hot spring.

Yukai Resort hotels are great value for money..if you are looking for a Japanese experience with dinner and breakfast included in the price.Return coach transfers from Nagoya are offered for 3,000 yen. There are two Yukai Resort hotels in Yamanaka Onsen.The Grand Hotel is a good twenty minute walk from the town itself and the river.The hot spring baths in this hotel are large and very nice.The rooms are adequate but rather old-fashioned and could do with a bit of an update..especially the bathrooms. The view from room 612 is over the baths and down onto the town itself...the lower you are the more shelter you get from the trees that surround the hotel. The choice of food for dinner is suitable for people looking for an introduction to simple Japanese food (sushi,sashimi, noodles and tempura) Breakfast offers less choice for western guests.

今回久しぶりに使った直行バス客に珍しく話好きがおられて会員情報を交換されるのを聞いていた。皆さん自由時間もそれなりにあって、会員特典だけでなく湯快リゾートの各所温泉やスタンプラリー等の情報に詳しい。 行政サービスの旅行支援の割引やクーポンもであろうが直行バス料金で、特典が使える２月末までの予定は既に決まっているらしい。まあ皆似たようなものである。元気なうちは雪道の過酷な自家用車ドライブや家にこもっているより、寝て行ける冬の温泉は別格なのである。 山中グランドホテルの前身はどうであったか知らないが、ちょっと変わっていたようだ。今回部屋は別館をあてがわれたが、こんな別館があるとは知らなかった。 山中温泉は大聖寺川に沿って開けた温泉街で、国道364号線も南北に沿っているが、国道を隔てた西側の建物が別館で、地下道で繋がっているとは。なるほどそういえば奥に夏のプールもある。いわば国道を隔てた敷地内なのだ。 久しぶりに山中温泉菊の湯に浸かって街ブラ、図書館に寄ればちょうどいい時間になろうか、グランドホテルのすぐ北にあるバス停から路線バスに乗れば昼前帰着して帰りの直行バスに間に合う。 バスターミナルではなく8時9時発栢野行きなら菊の湯に停まるのがあるではないか。などと計画も作ったりもした。 ホテル横(北側交差点)のバス停は北鉄加賀バス「緑ヶ丘」。 よくわからないがバス停は「医療センター前」「加賀ぬくもり診療所前」などとも呼ぶらしい。東側坂下でキャンバスや他社を使う場合至近は「桂木町」バス停となる。 しんしんと一晩中雪が降る。 直前の豪雪ほどではないが、既に歩道は歩けないので長靴を借りることしたが、一番深いのを早朝に試しに履いて外に出てみたら既に膝まて埋まってしまうのであった。これで歩きはとても無理。 朝食を済ませ、ホテルの入り口辺りを見ると、ホテル駐車場坂でスタックしているらしい車がある。その後しばらくして除雪が始まった。 国道まで出てしまえば早朝でもそれなりの交通量があって走れる。しかし出られないのだ。その後ホテルの除雪車が動きだし、出勤や出発で駐車場が落ち着いたのは昼頃であった。 残した市立図書館、冬の鶴仙峡・菊の湯は後日再挑戦することにした。「花彩朝楽」は無理だが「依縁園」宿泊がある。 直行便を気楽に使えるのはいいことである。

湯快リゾートです。 金額を考慮すれば施設（カラオケ・卓球・漫画等）のサービスは問題なしです。 ただ…もう少し食事の補充に気を配って頂きたい混み合った後、何もないのは悲しい 自動精算機は1台しかなく混み時間のアナウンスはあったものの、自然と混み合ってしまうので追加精算がなければ事前に精算を済ませたい感が強い。 山中温泉の中心地からは離れているため散策を目的にされるのであれば不向きな立地かと思います。
