By far the worst experience I've ever had at a Hilton Property, full disclosure pre COVID I traveled all across the country for work staying only at Hilton properties and was a Diamond Member. I was staying for a few nights with a large group of co-workers this trip. Upon arrival, we noticed there was no shampoo in the rooms and the front desk told one of our female guests at 10:30 pm to "walk to the market down the street, and buy some". This was just the first of many negative staff interactions, the Speak Easy staff was rude and inattentive, on our last night I actually canceled my order and went to bed early because the service was that bad. Our meeting room the "Crystal Ballroom" had clear water damage/mold (there were large parts of the ceiling with water damage and stains) throughout the day we had to continuously ask the staff to turn on the AC and help increase the airflow because members of our team were experiencing reactions to the mold. One of the responses from the hotel management was "the water damage is new so there can't be mold in the room". This was yet another instance where our concerns were not addressed nor were we offered a solution to the problem. As someone who travels nationally for work and has been very loyal to Hilton in the past, I am VERY Disappointed in this property and now I am strongly considering the Hilton family and joining another large hotel chain for my travel needs moving forward.

It was Okay

Stayed here for a weekend with my girlfriend which amounted to close to $250. Overall, it was alright. It had its perks, but didn’t knock our socks off. I’ll go through the pros and cons below: Pros: -The valet service was great, especially since KC isn’t the easiest place to park. The valet staff were friendly and despite clearly having a lot on their plate they maintained solid customer service. -Location: It is right in the heart of downtown and you have an instant access to basically anywhere in the city. -The PS Speakeasy was the highlight for us. Really cool vibe and great drinks. Pricey, but worth it to us for the experience. -The art deco vibe of the hotel is neat. Cons -The hotel seemed like it had seen better days. Dusty furniture walls/furniture, rundown doors/walls/mirrors/windows etc. As a result it seemed in need of some TLC. -The thermostat did not work in our room. I set it to 67 but it stayed at 72 all night. Luckily the room wasn’t too hot, but something about it did set off my allergies. -The restaurant in the hotel (Tavernonna) was a let down for us. We went on Sunday and even though their website said they had brunch, it was just a typical buffet with none of the menu items listed on there. The buffet cost $17 dollars per person and the food was nothing different from your typical hot breakfast at a Hampton Inn. Staff mentioned they’re locked out of the website because they were bought out by new owners recently, so hopefully they can fix that and the waitress was friendly so cannot complain there. I can’t attest to their lunch or dinner food, but we would not go there again for breakfast at the price listed. All in all, Hotel Phillips is alright. If they give it a nice little facelift and a deep clean we would probably stay again next time we are in KC.

Disappointing

Location is good, bad reception, did not explain the benefits nor what is available for Gold members. Unfriendly place and do not provide any quality input as customer service. Breakfast is not to the Hilton standard.

Excellent downtown stay!

Excellent hotel if attending a meeting downtown! We had a meeting across at the Conv Ctr. Easy walk across. Very convenient in evening to walk to dinner in the Power and Light District. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The Diamond lounge is a nice touch as it serves drinks from 4-7pm daily. The breakfast in the restaurant was good and convenient. Only ask is to have a small store/kiosk to get drinks or snacks in the lobby. Most hotels have these. There is no store close enough to walk to. Not a huge deal but would be nice!
