A beautiful traditional Lakonian place
Avaliou em 14 de julho de 2019
Its a totally traditional place to stay, into the wild nature of the Lakonian region. The rooms are tidy and cozy made by a traditional stone way and it has a very very big yard with dogs, horses, etc. Its totally an animal's friendly spot and also a peaceful staying into the countryside. Maria the owner is a very warm and unique person that will made you stay feel like home. She also has knowledge of the area the history and the architecture of the region. i absolutely will come back soon to stay:D thank you!

True Greek Hospitality

This is a wonderful place. Sitting at the highest point in this beautiful mountainous area it has wonderful views made better by the gentle toll of the goats bells as they pass on the mountain. The buildings are stone and sit perfectly in this landscape, they add to the place. Maria is a spectacular hostess. She is warm and kind, not because she has to be, but because it is her nature. She is a magnificent cook, I have rarely enjoyed meals so much, particularly on our last night when she joined us and we ended up enjoying a little too much wine (made by a friend of hers) and a sneaky tsiporo (a kind of Greek grappa). We chatted into the small hours with her alternating Greek, English and her perfect French to make sure everyone was part of the party. I sometimes dream of how it must have been to travel before mass tourism, to find little places in the middle of nowhere and eat & drink the wine of the country with wonderful locals who have no interest in your money but care only to hear your story and share theirs over a glass or two. This is just that sort of place.

Excellent choice for relaxing and calm

This guesthouse is located before the village of Kalyvia, in the middle of nowhere. We stayed in one of the three remoted rooms with a fireplace into the room. Very good choice. Maria, the owner, is an excellent host. We feel like our home.

Wonderful rural experience

I recently stayed 2 nights at kalivia enjoying a rare, peaceful break in outstanding countryside. The hotel has been made out of old stone dwellings, with an eye for detail and despite the harsh surroundings, Maria has created a very homely and comfortable place to stay. There are 360' views towards Parnonas and Taigetos mountains. Make sure to ask for a balcony to enjoy the cool mornings and evenings. The surrounding area is great for walking and country pursuits.

Great nature, most welcoming host

Small hotel on the high plateau with breathtaking view. Maria, the owner welcomed us like family and we felt like part of it immediately. Great place to explore the region, Karyes and walk for hours in nature. A great dinner in the hotel is waiting for you at very fair prices. The hotel is indeed very low priced per night (€60), but rooms are not made and the walls are veeeery thin - you hear everything in the adjacent rooms. Also breakfast is average for Greece. Overall, we loved the place as basis for the area and Maria is the most welcoming host, we've ever had.
