Decent hotel with bad management with bad business decisions

I am very disappointed with how corporate values it's customers. Overall my 4 month stay has been problem free, until upper management decided to change the rate of my stay without warning. I understand price increases and decreases as a part of business. However this price adjustment came unexpectedly at the end of a 15 week contract. My weekly rate abruptly increased over $200! I asked management to please honor my price that I have been paying the past few months and the awnser was a resounding No. I explained to management from a customer point of view this is the equivalent to paying rent every month on time with no issues and the landlord raising the monthly price by $800 a month ($200 weekly × 4 weeks) and expect us to just accept the price adjustment. If the price was quoted wrong by the company and it took management over 3 months to notice it... why should the customer suffer for the company's mistake. It was more than one person at the company that quoted this price. So where ever the mistake was made, I understand a business needing to make profit, but I also know retaining it's customers as well as keeping them returning and giving referrals is looking at the bigger picture from a business standpoint. Not only has MyPlace lost my business for the remainder of my stay here in Ketchikan (moved out the following day) but it also lost my returning business along with my referrals for future travelers that will be coming next year... my advice to you travelers. I know finding housing in Ketchikan can be difficult but my advice is it is worth the extra effort to look for other accommodations than to stay at MyPlace who doesn't put the customers as it's priority. To those who may think my review is too harsh on the company, I beg you to put yourself in the situation of being at the opposite side of the country with your family on an island where housing is tough to find, working as a traveling Healthcare worker who is here to help and support the community, and having to be forced to make a decision to accept an enormous price increase just to save the company a few dollars, or hunt to find new accommodations which is no easy task last minute. I was given no advance notice by the hotel, I literally found out the day I went to pay my rent for the week. I left because I refuse to give my money to a business who doesn't care about their customer. On a happy note... Ketchikan is lovely and I hope everyone enjoys their stay here on the island!

The hotel is 2 miles from town. There is a city bus every 30 minutes that drops you off in town.
Hotel is a 10 minute walk from the airport.
Clean hotel and friendly associates.
The bed sheets are the BEST that I ever slept on!!
Across the street from the hotel is a grocery store with a coffee outlet.

It being a new building is the only thing going for it. Staff are rude. No early check-in, no late check-out. Room had left over papers, stuff in the microwave, stains on the furniture, and a leftover dirty washcloth. Marketed as an extended stay, but they have no silverware, plates, pots/pans. And no ice, you have to wait until your room is ready at 3 and you turn on the ice maker in your room. For over $200/night I expect more. I wonder if they even changed the sheets.

This hotel looked nice upon arrival, until I went to use the bathroom in my room. The toilet literally had an orange ring on the water line, and grey stuff on the sides of the bowl. Disgusting. If they don't clean something that dirty, why would I believe that the rest is clean? We were also told there would be breakfast in bed available, where they put it in your fridge for you for the next day. When we called to order, we were told that they had no supplies, and that it wasn't an option. My husband and I stayed for for nights, and we're on a budget, so we always like to have a breakfast option. We were not offered an alternative, nor a refund of some sort. Pretty disappointed. The good side was that the front desk staff was very nice and friendly.

I was literally cursed at by the front desk clerk because she thought I messed up their freezer. A horrible experience. Kendra (a different clerk), was an angel and saved our vacation.
Rooms were clean and comfortable, although they should have included silverware and dishes. Why have a full kitchenette without any silverware or dishes?
