This was a lovely place to spend our first few nights in Ireland. The building was impressive, with huge comfortable beds and plenty of space in the room to unpack. Free water and chocolate bars in the room was a nice touch. It was in a very convenient location - quiet but only about ten minutes from the centre of Kilkenny. The host gave great directions as to where to park when we went into town and pubs to try out which were kid-friendly. We especially loved the breakfasts. Lots of options, both cooked to order and continental.
Hostess was not hospitable.

Appeared clean until a spider fell on me and then I saw a huge spider web in the tiny shower. The hostess was not very hospitable - all business, no smiles. The breakfast was very tasty but very rushed. No time to take in the early morning conversation.

Newlands country house was probably my favorite B&B on our tour of Southern Ireland. We arrived a bit late, called, and had no issues getting to our room. The bedroom
And bathroom were nice and large. The breakfast spread was amazing with fruits, cereals, meats & cheeses + a hot menu with French press coffee. It was less than 10 minutes from the middle of Kilkenny. Perfect spot for a holiday!
Peaceful piece of heaven

I have to highlight the breakfast part of this B&B, they were a fantastic way to start off every morning! A full spread of cold items (fruit, cereal, yogurt, cheese, meats), juice/coffee/tea, and made-to-order hot meals from the menu, including of course the full Irish breakfast, complete with black pudding. We all tried different meals each morning and they were all great. There's so much available that we were able to fill up and essentially skip lunch later in the day to maximize our sightseeing time before a single big late afternoon meal.
That is not to undersell the 'bed' part of the B&B, either. The room was nicely appointed with clean linens, fridge, coffee maker, and space to sleep three. The location is out in the bucolic countryside, while not being too far from major access roads to Kilkenny, Waterford, and beyond. Ample parking set back from the road is a plus.
Nice B & B!

Cute B & B, quaint rooms, quiet setting, comfortable bed, nice linens. Hostess was gracious but not overly talkative or informative. Shower was about 3 X 3 square-just big enough to get into, had a grab bar but floor was extremely slippery with no shower mat that we could find. No electric outlet near any mirror in order to do hair (which we found to be the case at many B & B's in Ireland and Scotland!) A few slight improvements could make this a 5 out of 5 star!
