Such a letdown

Overpriced and stinking €200 a night.. you have to pay for parking. They have 2 hotel bars that you have to go out on to the busy Main Street to queue for and hope that you get a seat it’s scandalous. There is entry to both of these pubs from reception but they don’t want you using these as it’s on a first come first serve basis to anyone in Killarney. If this was stated when you pay €200 to stay in the hotel that unfortunately both our hotel bars are not really for people staying in the hotel but every other tourist who is staying anywhere but there hotel it’s embarrassing. We also had an issue with the room I was told they have 3 hotels locally sorting us another room should be no problem. Half an hour later I was told that every room in there 3 Killarney hotels were booked out. But I was able to go online and book a room in all 3 for that same nite and every nite after it. Breakfast was shocking rashers nearly walked off the plate they were that raw! Rooms outdated. Reception staff are so unhelpful with the bar seating issue it was just awkward. The lady supervisor in the restaurant was lovely to us but all the young staff were all a bag of nerves! Unfortunately it’s like a factory printing money the aim is just sell sell sell €8.90 for a vodka and coke is ridiculous. I’d rather sleep in a dog box then ever return 🤢
Appalling Customer Service

Our family friends are closely associated with the the Naughtons via Boston College. They couldn't be more "appalled" to learn about the treatment at the front desk. Their family is from the west of Ireland, Tralee, and it's such a shame that you'd exercise such poor discretion.
To be clear, this review is specific to one person at the front desk of the property. Everyone else, including the GM, has been a consummate professional.
1 star only because 0 wasn't an option
This is important for any prospective guests to read. We were subjected to sexist, derogatory comments, that nobody should ever be subjected to, nevermind from someone in the hospitality industry. I don't want this to happen to you or your wife or any of your loved ones.
I helped a female friend, that I hadn't seen in 10 years, take her bags to her room upon check in. She was visiting from the States. We went to dinner shortly thereafter. After dinner, around 11PM, we came back to the hotel and decided to get a last couple of drinks before I left for my property in Tralee.
Within 5 minutes of getting to my friend's room after dinner, we received incessant calls from this specific person at the front desk. Saying that I was staying at the property and if I wasn't, that it was inappropriate for a woman to have a male in her room at 11PM. What???
I happily went down to the lobby, joined by my friend. This person from the front desk, took us aside. Without any discussion, we were accused of "lying" and of her being" inappropriate in having a male in her room." He then said to her, verbatim, "I will happily take you into the back room, and we can debate all night long." As I write this, my level of astonishment grows. Take a female into the backroom all night long... baffling.
My friend was becoming deeply embarrassed and upset by what this employee was saying to her. I had to diffuse the situation. I said I would gladly pay the $40 fee for a second guest --- a nominal amount that did not require that sort of verbal abuse and accusation. It could have been a very simple conversation.
When I told this employee I would happily pay but write a review, he responded by saying that he would call the cops. I said wonderful, that is a great idea because they should be here. He responded with a few expletives and went behind the desk.
In closing. My female friend was subjected to comments about her morality, her appropriateness, and her integrity. Over what was literally a $40 issue. It's really saddening to see this happen in 2021.
Thanks again to the staff that was helpful. But, if you are taking the risk of staying on this property while this specific person is working at the front desk, it's a risk to you, your family, and your well being that should be taken into consideration.

I haven’t even arrived at the hotel yet but already the staff have been amazing and so so helpful, especially Elaine she couldn’t do any more to help us and is great at her job! Can’t wait for our stay now!

Lovely hotel in the heart of Killarney. Rooms were comfortable and clean, staff were friendly and helpful. It did everything we needed to do. Only downside was that there is no parking. Discounted parking is a 10 min walk. OK on a fine day but not ideal.
