I refuse to stay anywhere else
I stayed here every weekend for about a year. My wife and I will never stay anywhere else if they have availability While google only says this is a three star hotel the service I received was five stars every time. The rooms are clean affordable and comfortable. The one person I would like to thank most is mrs Becky at the front desk for always being so kind and caring. If you ever read this Thank You. I would not be the man I am today without you.
It's 2020
I love history so I was pleasantly surprised to walk into our room, across our stained up carpet to find a working tube TV. Amazing. The room was fairly clean other than years worth of mistakes on the carpet. It would be nice if they used mattress covers instead of just a sheet to cover the very uncomfortable beds. Both beds had issues. They leaned and had lumps. My back still hurts. The staff was great. They were all very friendly. Our only complaint there was a woman who apparently worked there who was always on a smoke break who liked to come out and pet the dogs while they tried to do their business. She pet our dog and got in his face so he'd kick her. Has this woman never heard of COVID? The pool was closed. They were using pool towels with blue stripes as bath towels. Whatever. The big issue was the internet was down we arrived on Friday and was down for several days. We actually were considering changing hotels because of this. It did start working again but was very awful. It constantly lost signal and it was very slow. Oh, and there were three syringes and needles in the parking lot when we arrived. That was cool.
Slipping badly
10 years ago the Shilo Killeen was class acted. Now it is a way overpriced, struggling place. A 25 year old cathode ray grainy TV no less, without a remote. The card key rarely worked on the aging door lock. Maintenance obviously generally neglected
Just ok
I only stayed one night and it was just ok. It’s definitely dated. The tv’s need to be upgraded and pillows need to be replaced with better quality pillows. The biggest disappointment was the dirty towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. Clearly housekeeping needs some work. Otherwise it’s a fairly decent hotel. There are worse hotels in Killeen.
NOT a 3 star hotel!
My husband, grandchildren and I stayed there for 5 nights while visiting family at Ft Food. It was awful! I have absolutely NO understanding of how this is rated a 3 star hotel or of the great reviews. I also believe that their online photos must have been taken many YEARS ago. Upon check in our room had NO towels or wash clothes!! I called front desk 2x, no answer. I then went down to front desk & was not initially acknowledged by either of thec2 employees. I was told they were out of clean towels and wash clothes. After disbelievingly questioning that fact, I was given 2 towels. (For 3 guests) I was told they would bring more to our room once available. No one came that night. Called the next am & requested towels. Again, no one came. Contacted the Mgr who apologized & gave us a 25% discount for 1 night. He provided us w/ towels & wash clothes. Towels were not consistently replaced daily the entire stay. Carpets throughout the hotel were stained & dirty looking, fux leather was peeling off the seating area in the lobby, there were multiple large holes in the ceiling tiles above the pool. NEITHER of the hot tubs worked. Our key cards didn't work on multiple occasions. We had to get new ones. (I heard mutiple other guests complaining about this as well.) The hallways were uncomfortably hot! Upon check out we were not asked about our stay. We will NOT be back!!! We have now stayed at this hotel 2x. 2019 & 2020. It was worse this time. Note: We stayed here because it is one of the only hotels we could find w/ an indoor pool for our grandkids. We stay in hotels fairly often. We always stay at 3 star hotels to avoid all the above listed issues. Shilo Inns in NOT accurately rated and is in poor condition with poor service.
