A surprise....

Given the fact I am not a golfer I thought that this stay might be questionable. However the Pavilion Deluxe room was spacious, well appointed, air conditioned and comfortable. I would prefer a slightly harder bed buy that's just being picky.... The dinner in the restaurant was reasonably priced and good. Drinks were a bit slow to arrive and there was no draught ale available, which was bad for a Friday night. The breakfasts were good, though the buffet part could he more interesting, and after being told by one waitress there was no decaf tea, another sought some immediately. They did miss my order for an extra egg on the second day though, and on day one I got the skinny end of the black pudding. We were there for a wedding and the menu and catering was excellent, although there needed to me more staff on the bar. Drinks were not overpriced however. The location is prime, with views across the golf course to the coast. On the whole, to stay, and for a wedding venue it was great. I would happily return.

Lovely hotel, comfortable, lovely food and absolutely outstanding staff. It was lovely to see younger staff working with such confidence and the ability to chat, help and serve. Lovely setting with short walk to the beach or short drive into Hunstanton. Will definitely he going back.

Lovely old building, friendly staff

We stayed here for three nights in August. Our room was upstairs in the main building, but there are more accessible ground floor rooms. The grounds are lovely, and parking was easy. There is a golf course for keen golfers. The hotel is part of the Searles group, so you can also enjoy the facilities at Searles caravan park nearby. Reception staff were friendly and checking in was smooth. We were contacted before arrival to book our breakfast time - not something we've done before - but breakfast itself was lovely. The room was light and airy and calm. There was plenty to choose at the buffet - cereals granola, yoghurt, fruit juices, croissant, pain au chocolate, bread (to toast if you wished), mixed fruit grapes and strawberries, pears etc. The cooked element of breakfast was brought to your table. The "full English" was very generous - bacon, sausage egg of choice, hash brown, beans tomatoes mushroom, black pudding. You could choose what you did/didn't want. Alternatively there was smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast. I can't remember the other choices. Tables were cleared and cleaned promptly and staff were efficient and friendly. The hotel is within easy reach of Hunstanton, so worked perfectly for us. There is a small bar, where you can sit in or outside. Lovely outside furniture and a great view over the golf course. We were out and about quite a lot, so only ate in the Mulberry restaurant once. It was a mixed bag. There was limited choice, but my choice was limited further because I am allergic to shellfish. My pie was, however, lovely. A great meal. My husbands meal was more expensive but disappointing. It was described as chicken supreme. It was a small piece of chicken with a red wine jus - more a retro coq au vin than chicken supreme. Add to that the beer had turned so not the best experience We slept well and there was a tower fan in the room. The wi fi/signal was an issue, unfortunately. Very hit and miss. I would have preferred it if rooms were serviced daily rather than when asked for, because we ran out of tea bags and sugar. Not a biggie and soon rectified. All in all, one meal apart, we had a lovely break.

Lovely Stay.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights & had booked the cottage suite as it suited our needs with our 2 year old (we needed a kitchen to keep milk in fridge along with snacks & a sink to make his squash up etc...) but what we didn't know on booking this suite is that the fire doors could not be locked from the inside (now we have a very active & inquisitive 2 year old who likes to explore) so most of the first day was alot of tantrums from trying to stop him escaping (especially as the duck pond was so close). Plus the 1st nights sleep was very uncomfortable with only 2 fans which were not powerful at all & it was a muggy evening. After speaking to a member of the breakfast restaurant team the following morning who we now know as Sue (she was super friendly & lovely) we told her how our first day/ night had been in general chit chat & she straight away said that she was going to speak to Reception about that as it was a safety issue with our child trying to get out of the room. We were immediately offered a different room in the newer Pavilion building. Our stay from this moment became so much less stressful & we couldn't thank Jayne on Reception enough for sorting this for us. The room was lovely, big, modern & wait for it... Air conditioned!!! Our stay here was lovely, although if you do have small children I would check about the room you are staying in first & if they have fire doors which cannot be locked. The new room we stayed in didn't have any kitchen facilities but we were able to keep our milk labelled in the sports bar kitchen & staff were super helpful when we needed to get some. Breakfast was lovely each morning... you could choose something hot off the menu which was bought to your table & also had a little buffet which included cereals, granola, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, pain-au-chocolat, hot drinks machine & fruit juices. Can't comment on lunch or evening meals as we didn't eat there. Hotel is so close to Hunstanton & also their sister company 'Searles' which we could use any of their facilities free of charge. They have entertainment day & night (kids entertainment, bingo etc...) Overall our stay was lovely & all staff were lovely & friendly. Special shout out to Jayne on Reception & Sue at Mulberry Restaurant (breakfast time). Thank you so much ❤️
