We stayed here after a day in Alton Towers. We booked the family room which easily slept 5 in 2 separate but adjoining rooms. The master suite opened onto a patio which was a great bonus. The food was fantastic and the owners were very accommodating to my vegetarian partner and cooked her something bespoke for both tea and breakfast. Very friendly owners, good honest accommodation and excellent value for money. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you. John, Emma and family.
Avoid at all costs!

We booked this hotel due to its close proximity to Alton towers and the pictures online made it look like a nice, friendly local inn. How wrong we were! On arrival we were greeted by a young girl (who didnt even look old enough to work behind a bar) to be told they had two bookings in our name, we said no, only one booking was made. When the girl asked the landlady, who was perched at the end of the bar drinking with the locals, she reluctantly came over to help. We were told the quote we were given was for the wrong room so a room to accomodate myself, my husband and our teenage son it would be £402 for three nights. We werent pleased but agreed and handed over the cash. When walking into our room (Room 1) we instantly felt uneasy. On closer inspection the room was filthy. Cobwebs, spiders, bluebottles, dirty bathroom. The ceiling was just covered in one giant mass of spiderswebs! We went straight downstairs to complain and were told that the room wasnt dirty when she checked it earlier that day, you will see from the photos that those rooms havent been properly cleaned in a long time. We asked for all our money back, which was given without too much of a fuss.Luckily we managed to get booked into a days inn but After a 4 hour drive this wasnt how we had planned to start our short break. My advice would be to spend less time folding the towels into swans and just clean the place! Disgusting especially with the prices they are charging!

Shown to the room, staff friendly enough, we paid £70 up front, wish we hadnt. Walking to the room it did not smell pleasant. The room was very basic and the bed was wobbly with springs that twanged every time you moved. Opened the window which looked out on to a flat roof which was covered in about 20 piles of dog poo from what was obviously a very large dog. The bathroom was absolutely rancid. Toilet only flushed intermittently and the shower was rank with mold (I wish I could upload pictures). Shower door did not close. In the morning the dog poo had been picked up, but Rover had managed to produce more! A complete rip off for £70, was worth £25 at best
Very Disappointing and filthy!

On arrival we had a fairly warm welcome, as a family of 5 we had booked 2 family rooms for one night. After a long day at Alton Towers we were looking forward to a hot meal, we did eat a tasty hot meal but there was an extremely limited choice, almost all of the food on the menu was unavailable, so we had to have what they had left in the kitchen, it seemed like we were a bit of an inconvenience to them as far as feeding us went.
When we got into our rooms we found many faults, both rooms were dirty, full of cobwebs and when I say full I mean everywhere! I find this totally unacceptable. The facilities and cleanliness of the room I was in with my 2 daughters was particularly bad, the shower door didn’t close, the power of the water from the shower head was terrible, there was also black mould all around the shower tray and tiles and also hairs in the tray, the sink was also dirty with hair, the toilet was constantly refilling which was noisy throughout the night. The double bed was not that comfy either far too bouncy which meant I didn’t get much sleep, however my young daughter did sleep well in the pull out bed. In my husbands and toddler boys room it was full of dust.
After my shower in the evening I needed to dry my hair but there was no hair dryer, a minor point but needs noting I feel.
On the plus side the breakfast was very good, tasty and well cooked. There was also a good selection of shower products, towels, tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits, it would have been a one star review if it were not for these.
Such a shame, we were looking forward to our stay but came away very disappointed, we had paid £160 for this experience.
The man who was looking after us, whom we presume to be the landlord was a bit lacklustre in his hospitality throughout our stay.
I would normally say something but felt uncomfortable to do this as I feel the landlord would have been too defensive, and to be honest just wanted to get out of there. I would avoid this place, we won’t be staying again.
