Warm welcome awaits
Stayed here as we had a gig down the road , the car park is at the back of the hotel down an eight foot , it gets locked in at night very secure, we had a room 4 right at the top, very clean and comfortable, also en-suite the check in was quick , there is a pub next door, would definitely stay here again
Mayfair hotel stay to visit family
We have just stayed here for 2 nights (20th and 21st December 2019). This a family run establishment and they are very nice and friendly bunch. This is basically a bed and breakfast hotel with a bar. The room was a double with ensuite. There was a TV, hair dryer, and an Iron. Breakfast is continental and plenty of choice. Toast, porridge, croissant, yoghurt or cereal and more. Tea, coffee, juice etc., During the day we were out visiting family which was what we were there for We used the bar in the evening and a real ale and G&T just over £6 that's £3 cheaper than it is where we live nr Portsmouth. There is also an off road car which is locked during the night. Peace of mind for me. A plain and simple family run business with (in my opinion) a cheap price. Would definitely recommend this place. Unfortunately I didn't take and pics.
Pleasant Stay and Friendly Owner
So me and a group of friends booked three single rooms for one night in Hull while doing a roller derby tournament. We checked in around 9pm at night and Steve was the one that welcomed us in and checked in, he was very friendly and approachable and to my surprise my booking included a free continental breakfast. Only one negative was that on Zen Hotels my room was labelled as having a "private bathroom" when in fact it was a shared bathroom between the 5 people in the single rooms. Thankfully three of the people on my floor were my friends and someone also at the event but there was one random bloke. I didn't mind the shared bathroom but Zen Hotels had mis labelled my booking (not the hotels fault at all). The room was a really good size, the radiator was effective and there was an additional oil filled one for us southeners who couldn't handle the northern cold 😂. There were plug sockets by the bed which is always an added bonus, would recommend and stay again as excellent value for money.
Needs tlc but clean and tidy
From tbe beginning it was obvious that the hotel was in need of refurbishment. The stair carpet itself is old. The stairs are steep. The twin room we had was small but adequate, clean and tidy but needs updating. It just felt tired. Breakfast was continental style, serve yourself and was varied and with lots of options from meat and cheese to toast and boiled eggs. It was reasonably priced but not cheap compared to other inner city hotels.
Get what you pay for
Booked this for a quick over night stay, when we arrived in the room the decor was very outdated, beds were noisy and unstable. Toilet didn’t flush properly, no sanitary bin. Could hear nightly entertainment clearly. Radiator was on, causing the room to be too warm and unable to turn it down resulting in having to have the window wide open. Light above headboard was cracked (glass) and also made a cracking noise. Only one plug socket which was quite inconvenient considering room is for two people. Overall, think manager needs to listen to bad reviews and consider changes / improvements to rooms.
