Superb Overnight Getaway!

Avaliou em 22 de agosto de 2021

We planned a very last minute trip to the Peter Allen Inn after having some plans cancel for our weekend. We searched for a B&B with nearby wineries within an hour of our home in Geauga County, Ohio. I found the Peter Allen Inn online and was glad to see a room was available. We booked it, not really knowing the venue or surrounding area. It was wonderful! The Peter Allen Inn is gorgeous from the moment you pull into the parking lot. The building is beautifully maintained. The landscaping makes for a lovely setting. We were amazed at the quality of the building from the outside in; every inch is perfectly painted, polished, and kept beautifully clean. The carpets look to be brand new, and the wood floors were gleaming. We stayed in the Dudley Allen room, and it was perfectly appointed. Comfortable bed with luxurious bedding, a fireplace that is easy to use, lush robes in the closet, chocolates and water left in the room for us (complimentary) and a gorgeous updated bathroom. That the owners were able to somehow maintain the historical integrity of the rooms, while also providing updated comforts is a wonder. We had dinner at the restaurant downstairs, and that, too was wonderful. I had a pizza, and my husband had the Tavern burger, and we shared a bottle of Moscato. We felt the food was very good, the setting was unbeatable (outside on a lovely night with a friendly server and live music!), and the pricing was very fair. We also made our way to the Hartford Hill Winery on our trip, and that was worth the 15 min drive! Their "Dream Crusher" wine was wonderful if you like sweet wines. In the morning, we came downstairs and had our complimentary breakfast in the Hearth Room. We enjoyed juice, coffee, and fruit while we waited for our breakfast to be served. There is no menu; it is simply what the cook makes that morning. We had fantastic french toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, and the best home fried potatoes I've ever had. We left absolutely stuffed. All in all, we truly enjoyed our little getaway. The Peter Allen Inn does a fantastic job of making you feel right at home, but in the lap of luxury at the same time. We look forward to returning!

Liar, lLiar;Pants on Fire! (Not So Happy Birthday)

Avaliou em 23 de junho de 2021

Having dined at Peter Allen several times it seemed the perfect location for an overnight stay for a special birthday. I assumed my hotel experience would yield the quality as previous dining experiences. I was wrong. After I checked in, I noticed the room needed a few things, like a coffee pot and some cups, and some coffee, sugar, cream! Okay more than a few things. The coffee pot and cups were in the dishwasher but someone forgot to clean them. The hair in the shower and the unswept carpet added to the delight of having the cleaning crew in our room at 8 pm taking care of the “disinfecting” that is touted in their ads. Not a comfortable feeling after a year of COVID 19 restrictions. If only it ended there. We dined in the tavern but had to send back two orders of Chicken Picatta. Never had it with thick, gray gravy and balsamic glaze. Was then told by the waitress that the chef was fired and there were problems in the kitchen. The bar manager said he would take the orders off our bill and offered desserts on the house. Nothing was taken off the bill and we were charged for the desserts. Feeling our total frustration, upon checkout we were told out hotel stay would be comped. It was not and when I called the inn I was told by the “innkeeper” that they never said that. I guess the 3 of us were in a food coma when we were told that. Liar, liar, pants on fire! Try Gervasi. Their quality remains intact.

Wedding Venue

This is a wonderful setting for a wedding. The event setting was very nicely done. The outside and inside were perfect for an outside wedding from the ceremony site and the service was friendly at the bar as well. The servers were fantastic with asking if anything was needed and the building itself has been restored as well. You can’t go wrong here

A Jewel in Eastern Ohio

I stayed at the Peter Allen Inn on May 26th. I was immediately impressed with the hospitality I received as I checked in. My room was impeccable and very spacious. I was hoping to host some customers for dinner but it was farming time and all were busy planting their crops. I ate at the bar in the tavern downstairs and let my server pick out my meal. While there were many great items on the menu, she picked out the lobster ravioli. Having traveled overseas and 48 of of the 50 states I have eaten at many excellent restaurants. I can say without any hesitation that my meal at the Peter Allen Inn ranks in the top five of all meals I’ve ever had. The bar also had an excellent choice of beers including many local craft beers. They also had an excellent selection of bourbons. I left early the next morning to turkey hunt with one of my customers. They held breakfast for me when I returned at 10:00 am. Breakfast was exceptional and so massive that I took my scones for the road as a treat for later in the day. This will not be my last visit to the Peter Allen Inn.

Overnight Stay and Dinner

We wanted to patronize this lovely Inn after Covid-19 restrictions were lifted. Given there are only 3 rooms in the Inn we felt comfortable, especially since friends were occupying the other room on top floor. The third room is in the tavern area on lower level. Rooms were lovely, spacious, clean and had all the amenities one would need. We used fireplace as it was an abnormal chilly night we arrived. We had dinner in the tavern and food was pretty good and they certainly followed social distancing in the tavern. It was nice they also have entertainment on weekends. However, breakfast the next morning was 3 couples all around one dining table. No social distancing here...although 4 of us were traveling together. Breakfast was very plentiful but on this morning a bit overcooked. Egg scramble had brown pan marks and dry, sausage -some burnt, hash browns very crisp and French toast also too crispy. Thankfully there was ample variety of fruit and other baked goods that no one walked away hungry, but it was evident someone wasn’t paying attention in the kitchen for breakfast service, especially with the Inn fully booked. Overall this is a lovely facility and great get-away. As other reviewers in 2019 stated, service is slow and not super polished. That hadn’t changed much but everyone was very polite. Prices were reasonable and just for location and amenities.
