September stay

As with most reviews on the BN they all say it makes a great base to visit Kos and I would agree totally. It’s a good spot close to beach with Tigaki Main Street a good 40minute walk either along road or on beach so it’s a pleasant walk but also a great bus service will get you there for 1.80 on the hour. All the staff at BN are very helpful can’t do enough for you and will give advice on anything. Pool area is small but peaceful with a bar service all day for refreshments and food. Rooms are basic and cleaned everyday. They have tv and fridge no kettle. I would recommend hiring pushbikes as it’s a great island for bikes and we got as far as Kos town with kids seem to get more respect from cars than in UK. Definitely recommend the restaurant next door which is in a vineyard superb food and of course wine. And Greek night in the BN was a great laugh give it a go! Also one last thing the cleaners work exceptionally hard and always say hello!! 🇬🇷🍷👌

We were lucky enough to get this holiday as someone couldn't go so we couldn't turn down a free week away however it was bed and breakfast. The hotel itself is very pretty and lovely pool and cannot fault the cleanliness. The pros : very clean hotel - cannot fault this and the pool was gorgeous - immaculate and good snack menu. The bar is well stocked although not sure how long the bottles have been sat there ! Costas the barman was extremely friendly and informative - enjoyed daily chats with him and very clued up on world issues! Friendly owner George who immediately changed our room as we were originally placed at the front where the odd car woke us early hours in the car park and a noisy cockerel at 5am kept us awake! Rooms were very airy, lovely balcony space and furniture. Air Conditioning was 4 euros a day but probably one of the best air conditioning units abroad ever had f!! Well worth it. Taxi to Tagiki 8 euros, bus 2.10 euros. Hotels over the road are free to use pool etc Irini Beach especially lovely. The beach over the road literally 3 mins walk is outsanding. Nowhere did you have to search for a sunbed and Blue Nests were second to none, could pick to sit under shade or in the sun. Ampelli the Taverna next door was unbelievably beautiful. Although I wouldn't go after 7pm as the heat was unbearable with a full restaurant but of a lunchtime was spot on. Sat within a vineyard which sells it's own wine by the carafe ...well worth a visit and the food was gorgeous. 'took a trip to Kos town - 30 mins on bus - not all it cracked up to be, the usual cobbled side streets with souvenir shops and cafes. Hired a moped for 2 days for 25 euros in Tagiki - this was fun although nerve wracking with constant coaches passing you on pot holed roads. The walk into Tigaiki itself from the hotel is a nice walk along the beach and takes about 35 mins but we stopped at the odd bar over the road along the way !! King Size is one to visit and have a cocktail. The cons : The BEDS !!! two single beds pushed together with big gap in between. Th entire time myself and husband couldn't sleep together properly. The mattresses were horrendously hard. To the point our ribs hurt even breaathing. The hotel itself is in the middle of the sticks - not much going on. The Greek night on a Wednesday with a bbq is the only entertainment, however the bbq was cooked in the kitchen not on a bbq and the music was mostly pre-recorded singing and recorded guitar maybe the odd couple of songs played live. We chose to leave and go into Tigaki and eat there. Staff at times fairly rude. We had a drink at the bar late and took the glasses to our room to have a drink on balcony we had purchased for our room however the barman screamed at us in front of everyone and demanded glasses back to then give us 2 mis matched half pint glasses!!!! (not Costas). The main point though was that the staff smoked at all times. Behind the bar, when serving drinks, when serving food, when cleaning. there was a constant smell of smoke in the air and constant Malboros burning in ashtrays leaving a distinct smell at all times even at 7am at breakfast. ......oh and extremely noisy Crickets !!! Glad I went as holiday paid for however I would have been disappointed if I had paid for this myself forvthe fact no entertainment, rude staff at times, in middle of nowhere and food not the best .... but then again the food there in general was not authentic Greek food which was disappointing. The main good point of the hotel itself was the friendly nature of Costas!! i have to say it would mainly suit the Shirley Valentine types ....as there were a few !!

Great stay

This was an extremely nice place to stay, basic but exactly what you need if you want to travel the island. We visited with our two 15 year old children and spent two weeks at the BN. The entire grounds are tidy and clean. Yes some areas are dated but it really doesn't matter. We used the BN as a base for breakfast and sleeping and that was it. We spent the first day there just relaxing and then hired motorbikes and spent the remainder of the holiday exploring and dining out somewhere different every night. I can't speak for the atmosphere at the BN either during the day or the evening but what I can comment on is the staff who were excellent. The level of service from all was 5 star not 3. George the owner was always on hand to offer advice and support when you need it. Our son fell ill after 2 days which required the doctor to be called. George was straight on to it and within a few hours the Dr had been and solved the problem. The remainder of the staff were both attentive and friendly, Costas (breakfast) and his colleague whose name I didn't get were excellent. The cleaning was incredible in fact sometimes too much, having your towels and bedding changed daily was unnecessary but we were able to communicate this which helped. AC is not included but then I'm not surprised, when this holiday was priced last year no one expected there to be a war in Ukraine which has pushed prices up globally for all fuel. €4 a day if you want it we decided against and opted for the natural air (which was HOT!) Food What we had reasonable but by no means the best, we had a few things on our arrival which were okay, there is a set menu 3 courses you get to choose one from each. We didn't want that as it was 2310 and didn't want a huge meal, this seemed to upset the waiter who made us feel like we were doing something wrong or making life difficult, suffice to say we didn't eat there again. Breakfasts were included and were more than acceptable Can't comment on bar only had a couple of drinks but the barman in the afternoon/evening was quite an angry man who on at least two occasions shouted at staff (not sure of his name/same waiter we had on first night) it all seemed a bit unnecessary and it looked like.the girl who was in the middle of serving us was going to cry. The bar wasn't the cheapest yet wasn't the most expensive either, I did think 6 euros for a milkshake seemed quite a lot. We didn't get back to the BN till about 2200 most nights so never ventured into the bar area Next door is a great restaurant which is located in a beautiful setting. Food extremely good You'll need transport if you want to get around unless you are willing to bus everywhere (my experience of buses told me to hire a bike) there is a bus stop at the end of the road less that 5 min walk from BN which will take you either way Kos Town or Kefalos We hired our bike from a place in Tigaki (see my review) who were excellent and significantly cheaper than the deal from the BN so I'd consider shopping about You'll definitely need a bike unless you are happy to go to Tigaki beach everyday and walk 30-40 mins into Tigaki centre every night for dinner Tigaki is a nice beach but there are so many others around the island. Only hire a bike however if you're comfortable riding one at home we heard of at least three accidents and I'd imagine there are far more. Tigaki Went one night to a restaurant slightly out of the village. The village was not our thing but this is only our view. Kos A fantastic island full of great beaches and restaurants (just do some research) travel by bike and explore. Overall a fantastic holiday if you're wanting to know average spend bank in €120 a day which would include your sunbed hire you'll be okay. We aren't big drinkers though an opted for a 1/2lt carafe of wine most nights which was always nice and on average €6 One thing we did do that we did regret was a day trip to Turkey. (See my review) awful travel experience.

Lovely 3 star, great pool area and staff, fab base for exploring what Kos has to offer

We stayed as a family of 4, with children aged 12 and 11 for 2 weeks in August. This is a lovely, secluded small hotel, run by lovely people, who will help with any request you throw at them. The highlights of the hotel are the lovely pool area, the cleanliness, the bar, which is very well stocked and the staff. Breakfast was also fresh and slightly different each day. Kids loved the watermelon and pancakes with nutella. We enjoyed the Greek specialities. The rooms are basic but have a fridge and large TV and are kept very clean by lovely hardworking house keepers. We had a family room with two bedrooms and a shower room. The economy rooms have no view to speak of, so we had to venture out for that. We found that the beds were too hard for us however the reception gave us mattress toppers, as well as more pillows when we asked for them which helped. We also had a dodgy shower head and a shower with no power but the manager tried to help with alternatives. It was absolutely fine for 2 weeks in the sun and we met some lovely people staying at the hotel from all over Europe. There is a highly rated taverna called Ampeli a stones throw away which does wonderful Greek food and is set in a stunning, picturesque vineyard. You can also eat at the hotel which we did on Wednesday evening. We stayed for the Greek night and enjoyed a barbecue and some Greek dancing, with live music. For all other meals we hired bikes and went into Tigaki which is about 3.5 miles. There are lots of options there. We also cycled into Kos town one day and landed at Mylos beach bar (gorgeous beach and restaurant bar) which is about 8km away but buses are also available. There’s a hotel opposite Blue Nest (Irini beach) with a lovely free pool by the sea which also does food at their pool bar, so we opted for that for lunch some days to mix things up a bit. The beach by Irini hotel is very quiet and perfect for swimming. Tigaki beach is more lively with lots of tavernas that offer sun loungers, food and music. We hired a car for five days and visited some of the island. Absolutely loved Agios Stefanos beach which is as close to paradise as you can get, near Kefalos (park at Agios stefanos taverna), as well as Ammos beach bar near Agios fokas (very cool with four poster beds on the beach), Mylos beach bar Kos and watching the sunset at Zia (dined in Oromedon - a top Greek restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it). We went to Kardamena for a day too and loved swimming in the crystal clear sea opposite Nissea Boutique hotel and eating in the highly acclaimed Avli Greek restaurant. From the Tigaki based restaurants, we loved King size for cocktails and modern Greek, Misirlu for sushi, Rooster for very modern Greek, Plori and Nisiotikos for Greek quality food. We also used More Meni residence suites pool and pool bar for a change and found it a little haven. It’s great that you can use other hotels pools for free in Greece to break up the two weeks. We hired bikes from Manolis motors for €5 per day and car from Hard Motos. We also visited the Thermal springs at Agios Fokas which was hot hot hot, maybe go in an evening, not in full sun. We tried the Aquamarine fish spa in Tigaki (weird but fun), sunset drinks at Tam Tam bar (great views) and watersports at Paradise beach (really expensive but the kids loved it). Lots of things to do, using this hotel as a base.

Great little hotel

Lovely friendly hotel, George and all the staff were brilliant. We were half board and the dinners were great you pick 3 things off the menu and every meal we had was great. Always can get a sun bed and there’s a beach 5 mins walk that we preferred to go to rather than tingaki main beach. Will definitely return.
