Overpriced and poor quality rooms!
Very conveniently located if you want to play a great golf course BUT the rooms are badly designed and the bathroom was a disaster. The shower is open so the water sprays all over the bathroom - be careful you don’t slip. Everything becomes soaking wet and takes ages to dry. The public toilets are so small that you have to squueze yourself between the wall and the toilet to close the door. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, the staff at the golf bar were not and service was poor.
Peaceful hide-away
Now, you ought to know I am not a lover of handicaps. Bright trousers and polo shirts, delicately placed gloves flapping from my buttocks, assertive conversations, not my idea of a holiday. But this place is very lovely - its people, its ambiance, its peace, its beauty, its proximity to coast and country. We stayed there again this year for the second time and felt thoroughly welcomed. Our family room was good, the food unpretentious and relaxed, smiles all round. Our boys even banged a few balls around on the practice green before we walked the 30 mins to the beach. Money well spent.
Amenities far exceed room quality
It's a lovely setting with the golf course among the pine forest...year round swimming pool and whirlpool.....fitness center.....BUT then there are the rooms..Storage for luggage is the high point...small....no desk.no fridge,,no micro.and probably the absolute worst bathroom set-up I've ever seen.....K-Mart towels....need 2FT climb to get into tub...typical European handle shower but there is no way to use the shower without spraying all over the floor because there is no curtain....thus it's an act of courage to avoid slipping as you climb out of the tub. Best Western isn't doing their brand image any good.
Depends what you want
The good, lovely quiet location in the forest surrounded by a golf course. Our room on the first floor looked out to the forest, all the rooms have balconies and from there we saw red squirrels, deer, woodpeckers, nuthatches and all manner of other birds. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and some spoke English, but we had a bit of French so got along very well. Not very impressed with the restaurant, we only ate there once during our week stay and it was just OK, much better places (e.g. Riad Marrakech or Le Bistrot des Cochons) in Lacanau Ocean. Didn't eat breakfast there. Small but decent gym and good spa with a pool. The hotel is looking a bit tired in places and isn't very well maintained, looks like Best Western aren't investing as much as they could here, maybe not enough competition to make them. Expect the manager will reply to this with the identical copy/paste he seems to use to reply to most reviews of his hotel, which doesn't inspire confidence, but this place does have its good points as others have said.
To expensive for what you get
+ Nice environment, small pool but sauna and Jacuzzi available - Small room, no mini bar and no safety deposit box For the price I paid I think it is ratter expensive for what you get. +/- 5 km from the beach
