Very nice, picturesque hotel, with excellent service by the young , dynamic and multilingual owners, who not only ensure excellent service, but do professional cooking. A glimpse of the Dutch-Belgian atmosphere in the hart of France.

Wanted to move in!

We booked 2 rooms, for the 3 of us, on a little road trip from Dordogne to Arcachon and picked this hotel based on TA reviews and website info. I booked directly on the website, got quick confirmation response. We booked Le cap for our Polynesian friend, and a room with 2 twins for us as a couple. He loved his room, i think he had a view of the pool area. Even tho we are pretty traditional couple, I usually book twins just to get a little more space. Parking on the street was easy, first impression was good. One of the owners, Jan, checked us in. He was very polite, asked if we preferred French or English. I particularly liked that bc so many people just switch to English, assuming their English is better than my French. (They usually have to switch back, lol). About the hotel. Everything was delightful. Sounds corny, but is true. The lobby had several little conversation spots, we enjoyed a caraf of wine after our dinner in town. Speaking of dinner, we should have booked the room with dinner included. Our breakfast at the hotel was better than our dinner the night b4 at la Maison resto.(reviewed). Both rooms were simple, very clean, and fairly spacious. They have a small staff, but the common response from everyone, was “make yourself at home”. Excellent value, excellent staff/owners, classy style in everything. I would not call it fancy, but it sure had a warm charm and understated elegance about it. I would not consider staying, or eating anywhere else if I return. PS, Very clean, everywhere. Kudos.

Atmospheric and old school

I think this place will do well with its pleasant and enthusiastic owners who are making improvements. The hotel is situated at one end of the village on the main road near the river. It is an historic and atmospheric place built into the rocks which are visible inside as a major feature. Our room was at the back and so very quiet. It was a little dark due to large thick curtains partially obstructing the light. Furnishings are simple with a large and comfortable bed. The shower room was basic and clean. There is dining inside and out on a terrace but we did not eat there. The breakfast room is modern and lacks character. A very basic French breakfast is served with the coffee from a machine which is a pity and you may well do better going to one of the cafes in the village. There seem to be quite a lot of activities starting at this hotel and the owners are helpful. The front rooms overlook the road and although it is not busy at night there are a few heavy lorries that are noisy on traversing the level crossing. Despite therefore some flaws it is a hotel that I would happily revisit.

Very good service and attention. An excellent quality/price ratio for this historic hotel, now in the hands of new owners. Their plan to continue improving the facility means that things can only improve. Buffet breakfast is great with eggs cooked on demand. The charging station on the hotel garage door is welcome and cheap. I recommend.
