I would have been afraid to stay if my husband and my gun was not with me! The walls were paper thin. Next door people had an ALL night brawl on Friday night. Parking lot was trashy. People live here. That is a horrible recommendation where we are concerned. Never again will I stay at econolodge. I had hoped being a choicehotel would make it a good hotel to stay at.
Not a good stay
We were on our way to Galveston and stopped here for the night. Place is not what we expected at all. Hotel smelled like pot, floor was extremely slimy, faucet wasn't attached to sink, toilet felt like you were going to fall over. Overall the worst place we have ever stayed at. Very disappointed!!
Please take my advice - do not stay here.
I don't even know where to start. This place is filthy, it stinks of cigarettes and garbage. The non-smoking rooms are in the same place as the smoking ones and the corridor upstairs has large bins at either end, sat in front of windows with sunlight streaming through to heat them up and enhance the odour. The carpets are full of holes, the walls are spattered with various unidentifiable stains and that's before you go into the rooms... Our room: the outer door lock was not working correctly, the curtains were full of holes (from cigarette burns?), the floor looked like it hadn't been hoovered - if it had, I would advise the business to please treat the cleaner to a new hoover. There were unidentifiable stains on the walls, on the lampshade, you name it. The floor tiles in the tiny bathroom had sunk so were all broken, moving and unstable. The tap control didn't raise properly, the shower wall was cracked and there was black mould on the walls. The linens were clean (hurrah!), but on closer inspection the following morning turned out to be full of holes and covered in ink stains...and some other stains I'd rather not think about. The other clientele were noisy, intimidating and shenanigans went on long into the night. It did not feel safe. We cautiously went down to inspect the "coffee, juice and doughnuts" that are provided as part of the breakfast in hopes that everything would be packaged and fresh so we could grab a snack. The juice had been decanted into a large pitcher and had been sat out for a while so was warm and it was completely unclear how long it had been there for. The doughnuts were in a bread bin - again, how long had they been sat there for? Needless to say, we did not partake. I am confident that this is the worst place I have ever spent a night and I have done quite a bit of travelling with a backpack. Had we shown up with time to spare or been travelling with children we would have walked out immediately and found somewhere else. As it was we were exhausted and only there for one night so we got our heads down and tried to get some shut-eye. Never again.
It is what it is.
Very nice and respectful clerk. Older hotel that shows its use but as clean as it can be. I stayed in a non smoking room that had a slight musk to it. There were some questionable stains on the sofa. The parking lot was almost full yet my stay was nice and quite. I did not notice parking for trailers. It is within walking distance of a gas station and Cracker Barrel. Oh and the prices are not marked but everything in the vending machine is a $1. A $1 will get you a bag of chips or a candy bar.
No so good experience
We book to stay 2 nights. We arrive on property, hotel is in good location, near I35 and has gas stations and Cracker Barrel near it. We check in and show the room, the bed cover were stain by Clorox. Color faded, well is k, at least they are clean. A/C was falling apart (see pictures). I ask housekeeping if I could have 2 extra towel, we are 4 and only 2 in the room and a roll of toilet paper, because the one in the restroom was half way used. She kind of gave me a attitude. She never left the extra toilet paper. The A/C was fix later on with a piece of tape. Hey at least got fix. The restroom ceiling is full of mold (see pictures). And I had 2 crickets in the room. To wrap it up, breakfast is poor and not nutritious. You get what you pay for. I give it a 2/5 star.
