Covid Home Away From Home
A remodeling project forced us to live away from our house October 26-31, 2020. I interviewed and inspected three motels in our town, Lincoln, about their cleaning, sanitizing, and following Covid guidelines. Fairfield Marriott appeared to do the most consistent cleaning job. Following even our city’s mask mandate when people were in public parts of the hotel appeared to be a routine part of their plans and functioning. Housekeeping was requested to not come into our room, and towel exchange was easy with the front desk personnel. Lovely room (king suite) for very reasonable price ($90/night) with microwave, mini fridge and coffee maker. If you do stay here, avoid Tiffany at the front desk as she is not friendly or very competent. She did not remind people coming in to wear their masks “because it’s not worth the argument”. For us doctors, following the protocols is IMPORTANT for EVERYONE. All she’d have to do is ask “Did you forget your mask?” And if so, hand them one. Informing people of how we take care of each other is extremely essential to curtail the spread. Marjorie, Hunter, and Riley were very professional, welcoming, and adept at hospitality. Outdoor seating has a fire pit for cool nights. Close to many restaurants, both fast food and table service type. A lovely home away from home.
Looks like a newer building but lacks in maintenance and cleanliness.
Good location with fast food and Sam's Club very nearby. I think we got the room that has been forgotten on the maintenance list. The seal between the fixed half and the sliding half of window is missing, leaving a significant opening to the outside and its noises and cold air. Looks like there is a bullet hole in the glass door to the shower. The desk area was not clean - had sticky rings from drinks. (I thought we were getting exceptionally sanitized rooms now with COVID - but not so.) The shower drain was full of someone's hair. The hallway had a clean fresh (not perfume) smell but the room had a strong perfume smell. Breakfast is a to-go bag. (muffin, water, apple, cereal bar). Otherwise, it is a nice-looking Fairfield Inn.
Good Stay
Overall we had a positive experience. Room was clean and comfortable. I don't have an issue with the mask policy but it needs to be enforced consistently. I liked the sitting area outside in the back although a chair or two in front to be able to sit in the afternoon would be nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. We will return.
Excellent Stay!!!
The check in process was smooth and the customer service people were very polite and professional, the room was clean, the bed very comfortable including the pillows. the hotel was very quiet. Would stay here again.
Worst Customer Service Ever
We stayed here for a few nights at the end of June. While the property is nice, the man who checked us in was awful. I called to inform the hotel I would be checking in late that night. He just said, "ok." I asked if he wanted our name so he could make a note on our account and he said, "oh yeah, what is it?" Get to the hotel and talk to the same guy to check in, and he informs us our room isn't available. He has a king and we have 4 people. Took 20 minutes to check in late at night after calling his mgr we get a suitable room. He never apologizes for the situation once. Hands me the room key and says literally not one word to us. Doesn't tell us the room number, or about breakfast or anything at all. For the rest of our stay he (and the other staff) never acknowledge or greet us once. Never look up and mostly not at the desk. Please look up the Diaz reservation and re-train this staff member. They have zero place in the hospitality industry. Worst experience in 3 weeks on the road in 6 states. :(
