Miserable Afternoon Tea
Avaliou em 21 de março de 2023
We went for Afternoon Tea as we had received a voucher as a Birthday present but it was really rather miserable. The cakes are clearly not homemade and the fillings in the sandwiches are sparing to say the least, the restaurant itself is attractive but the staff are not particularly attentive or friendly. Overall I would say to avoid

Just spent a night here with my wife and in laws. Room was lovely, very big , lots of wardrobe space and all the expected extras , Safe, iron, hairdryer, tea:coffee facilities. Had meal in brasserie , good choice of good, excellently presented, and waiter was very helpful and cheerful. Used spa facilities, which were busy but still managed to use what we wanted to. Sports bar was decent lots of TV’s to watch sports channels

Wonderful break for everyone

The hotel is lovely. We could not fault a thing! All the staff are welcoming and professional, from the reception to the restaurant, spa and cleaners. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are very comfortable and everywhere is spotlessly clean. I would definitely recommend the carvery on a Sunday. Will certainly be returning as not only is it very good value for money, it’s so nice that our husbands were able to play golf and the ladies were able to relax and spa. So everyone was happy!

Great for the money

Stayed here for 1 night after completing a running event in the local area. Have been here before for a night out seeing one of their hired tribute acts in the ballroom bar. Decided to stay here as there was a pool and prosecco deal on and seemed brilliant value. Pros First impressions are good as it is tucked away in country side and grounds are well kept. Went to reception and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious with everything you needed, hairdryer, shower gell, shampoo, handwash, wifi etc. Room was immaculately clean and everything worked how it should. Decided to use the health club whilst vistiting. Staff very friendly and was easy to get in and find where you were going. The spa facilities are good and you can use them your stay package. Cons Only criticism about our stay was that they didnt have very many things avaliable on the Sports bar menu and the cavery restaurant was fully booked so had to settle for the little avaliable options. They say in the small print that they also chage a corkage fee to bring your own alcohol to your room which is ridiculous. Didnt apply to us but that is something to watchout for. Great stay for the price we paid and will be back in the future.

Underwhelming - bit like a Catfish on a dating site!

Stayed at this hotel which my daughter arranged as a birthday treat - if only that were the case. The room was tired, dated decor and had a very old TV which you couldn’t change the channel unless stood right next to it. I was surprised that 2 women were given a room on the ground floor with a door opening straight to the outside. I have travelled in hotels extensively and have almost always been offered a room on a higher floor. This may also be why the room was crawling with ants, all round the edges of the room & all over the dressing table - pretty grim. The shower was very poor, would have taken me forever to rinse my hair do I didn’t even bother trying. The food was average and not great value for money. The hotel is definitely geared up for big groups of male golfers, of which there were dozens when we were there. Not ideal for a quiet girlie getaway! The ‘spa & wellness’ area quite frankly made me feel unwell! Dirty, unloved and with beds round the pool crammed in like sardines, I couldn’t even bring myself to put my toe in the pool as it just looked unclean. I’ve never come across a 4pm check in - ridiculous time especially when a specific reason my daughter booked this hotel was to use the pool etc. When we got there it was heaving and there was no way we could even sit down anywhere, never mind venture into the pool which was packed with groups of men & kids. Not our scene at all! Upon check in we were advised the restaurant was full - we were shocked - not the most welcoming arrival news, the last thing we wanted to do was drive around looking for somewhere to eat as we had planned on chilling out. It took my daughter fluttering her eye lids at the restaurant reception to get a table at 6pm. Overall not a great experience at all, would definitely not return.
