In desperate need of refurbishment
We were very keen to stay in the Georgian quarter and this hotel has so much potential. On the positive side, it is a beautiful building and the room was spotless. Free door to door parking was a bonus. Ann was friendly and helpful, with excellent communication. Sadly, the room fell significantly short of the mark. There was a musty smell and it was fairly cold despite the heater being on full pelt. The carpet is old and stained. The vintage furniture suits the room perfectly but is unfortunately stained and in need of refurbishment. One chair had exposed nails where the back cushion was coming apart. Two small cushions on another item were torn at the seams. The website photos are deceptive and hide the true detail of the room. The bed, while large, could be too firm for many and the duvet could have been warmer to compensate for the cold room. The pillows were also very firm. The headboard was stained. Sadly I was unable to shower in the morning as the door to the cubicle was hanging precariously and coming off on movement. Of note, this room was at the front of the building on the ground floor where it was noisy from the constant traffic on the main road all through the night. This was not a deal breaker but a room at the back of the hotel would be much better. Unlike in other reviews, the TV worked but in this day and age, access to Netflix or equivalent really should be available. Overall, this could become a gem of a hotel with some love, attention and a complete refurbishment. Until then, I feel that broken items should be fixed and prices should reflect the state of the room if you are planning on staying.
Clean, quiet and good value.
I booked the Georgian Town House last minute for a bank holiday trip to Liverpool. Post- COVID, hygiene was a bit of a concern when staying in a hotel, but the hotel was spotless. Towels were changed daily and check in and out was easy and efficient. In my room, the tv didn't work and I was given the wrong wifi password, but the hotel suited me perfectly as a base for a bank holiday weekend in Liverpool with friends. Great location and good value.
Don’t stay for business
I had a lovely sized room at the back which was super quiet. However the Georgian Town House only does breakfast from 8:30 which makes it completely unsuitable for business travellers. When I was informed of this on arrival I was told it was stated clearly on the booking website and no refunds would be given for our prepaid breakfast. I looked on the booking website and (as of the time of the review) it makes no mention of the late breakfast time. This is the reason for a poor review. If you are a business traveller avoid - unless you have a quiet morning!
Disappointing
I stayed here after attending a wedding nearby at the end of December. I felt that the hotel was very overpriced for what it was. The hotel had a musty smell when I entered. The walls were in desperate need of a touch up as there were stains throughout. The handle on the door at the top of the stairway was loose. The room itself was clean and the beds were comfy at least. The breakfast was awful. They also didn't serve breakfast until 8:30am. I know that hotels usually serve breakfast a bit later at the weekend but I've never known it to be this late. I would have been OK with this hotel if I had paid a lot less for it.
