A solid, clean, larger-than-expected room for its price and location

Avaliou em 3 de janeiro de 2023

Sonder Edgware Road was a solid property in its price range and hotel class, and being only a 2-minute walk from the nearest tube stop its convenience couldn't be beat. The room was bigger than a lot of hotel rooms I've stayed at in London, and I didn't feel as crowded in as I normally do when staying at London hotels, or hotels in other European cities where small rooms are the norm. The arrival process was seamless through the app, and I especially appreciated the free locker storage at the back of the ground floor when I checked out, as my bus out of London wasn't until the late afternoon and with Edgware Road itself being as busy as it is I would have felt nervous leaving my suitcase at the sporadically-manned reception. The room had clearly been freshly cleaned, which I appreciated; that being said, though, one of the hand towels in the bathroom had some hair strands on it, so I just didn't use it, and weirdly the fridge had a couple of stray hair strands *in* it, which was particularly odd. The credenza containing all the additional amenities in it was a nice and economical use of space (iron, ironing board, kettle, and safe, and the actual furniture piece itself was lovely), and the clothes rack just outside the bathroom had plenty of hangers and hanging space. The one window at the back end of the room only faced a bunch of other buildings, though; for anyone for whom a lot of natural light is important for a hotel room this particular room would have presented a challenge. Other things of note—the carpet was fairly worn out and could stand to be replaced sometime soon, and the room had a lot of electrical sockets but no USB outlets. This felt surprising given the otherwise wholly tech-forward experience of booking and checking in, and especially that multiple USB wall outlets is now standard in hotels of this class and higher. In conjunction with a couple of visible ethernet outlets next to the bed, this actually made the room feel somewhat dated, if that makes sense! Something to be aware of for anyone who travels super-light under the assumption of being able to charge one's devices directly at USB wall sockets. If I hadn't needed to bring my laptop with me on this trip I wouldn't have brought my wall adapter with its own USB plug-ins, and that would have been a problem. All things being equal, though, I would stay here again—for price and convenience it really worked very well, and those are the two factors that most determine for me where I end up choosing to stay on my travels.

Nice hotel very close to the centre of London

Avaliou em 17 de novembro de 2022

The hotel is very close to the Subway and Bus stop, not to mention served by cabs, so very well connected to the rest of the city. The hotel is clean, and has a bar/café inside. My room was not very big but very good for price/quality ratio. I was there for work so it was essential for me to be well connected to the city centre
