DÉSOLÉE.

I’m really upset that the stuff of this hotel ruined all good impression about French people. They are so rude and don’t meet halfway even refugees who didn’t sleep for 3 days. It was exactly 10am us staying downstairs for breakfast and they refused. Je souhaite que personne ne vive ce que ma famille et moi vivons actuellement et parfois faire un compromis avec des gens- surtout sont en détresse. peu importe ce qui est écrit dans vos règles.

Had to be moved rooms due to noise from air vents second room only slightly better as noise from upstairs toilets so intermittent rather than continuse. This was an issue as we struggled to sleep when we had a long drive the next day

Can't complain at the price

This has always been a budget hotel with no restaurant and pretty basic rooms but it's situated at the entrance to the DFDS ferry port and so is ideal for an overnight stay before or after a sailing via Dover (and apparently somewhere in Ireland these days based upon signpost on the docks - don't know what ferry company it is or if it's freight or freight & passengers). Eating is either at the next door Campanile or over the road at what was Poivre Rouge but has reinvented itself post-Covid as the Loon-Garden. Sadly sans buffet at the moment. Romm quality at the hotel can be variable, especially the shower/toilet pods. Some leak water into the room from the shower, mine this time seemed to have leak depositing water on the pod floor from somewhere around the sink. There should be a breakfast room serving adequate but hardly stunning and pretty limited food options but Covid restrictions currently mean that's out of bounds and for a hot drink you have to rely upon a vending machine in reception - it was out of action during my stay but the Receptionist would make a drink from the breakfast room machine for 1€. Oh and I must add that if you chose to go for the Campanie food option you do get a 15% discount on your restaurant bill upon presentation of your Première Classe room key-card. Rooms can be a bit noisy with people coming and going for/from late/early ferries.

All you need is good people

Frederick the night porter was brilliant in helping me with a logistical problem getting to the ferry. Examples include calling eBay adverts to get a bike before 10am the next day! Offering to drive me to decathlon so I could buy a bike! Checking train and bus timetables and finally making sure I was awake at the right time to get the ferry! Thank you Frederick you were a total star

Value for money

Everything absolutely fine for the price paid. I especially appreciate that the desk is manned by a human being all 24 hours - no fiddling with outside machines to get a key card. And free easy-to-access wifi. Only downside is that there is never a plug for the little washbasin. I take my own!
