This hotel shows as a 4 star but dont be fooled. Atleast 2 stars should be removed. When we checked in and went to unpack, my sister and i noticed blood stains on one bed and nail polish stains on the other. This was changed immediately but that put a damper on our mood and we werent comfortable sleeping there. Although we paid for full board, several of us had to leave the hotel to get a decent meal. The food that was severed was not fresh, processed and terrible. Twice i had lipstick stains on my wine glasses. I was travelling with a group of elderly people and location was not great. We had to leave the hotel 45mins before just to get to the chapel/grotto, etc. The only good thing in the hotel was the fact that the towels were changed everyday and the manager who was most attentive.
Although I didn’t stay in the hotel, I did book a table for dinner. The restaurant was very basic in appearance, modern and clean. The staff were friendly and attentive until it came to the end of the meal, when like so many restaurants they failed in actually supplying the bill when asked. My partner requested the menu which was very good (boudin, trout and dessert) however I went for the ala carte which if I am honest was quite disappointing. The chef had failed to understand how flavours interacted and my starter of Thonine was bitter with bitter peppers in a soggy wrap. The leeks were good however, but again didn’t compliment the overall flavour of the fish. The main of lamb was good, however basic and the cheese was good although the restaurant had little to do with that if I am honest, as all the cheese in the area is good. Wine was good (local rose). Overall a bit disappointing, better restaurants in the town and the staff should be focused on the overall experience of the customer, it is not just about the meal, but also the interaction with customers and actually supplying the bill when asked.
Good hotel, breakfast could be improved
Parked in free car parking at the river. Helpful staff. Easy check in. Room was a good size overlooking the river. Air con was good. Separate toilet and shower. 5-10 min walk to the sanctuary. Slept very well. The breakfast was simple, organised but not worth the money. We had croissants, cereals and yoghurts. This seems to be common in the Lourdes hotels. I would return to this hotel but I would eat breakfast in one of the many cafes.
Very Good Hotel
The hotel is well located - just about ten minutes walk from the shrine. The rooms are spacious, very well maintained and well sound proofed. The food was very good- generous portions and good variety. The staff were most helpful and pleasant to deal with. Overall good value and to be recommended.
