On site parking adds to adequacy

Avaliou em 17 de março de 2020

It seems a while since this place was reviewed. We chose it as it's a 20-minute walk to the Bernabeu stadium and had its own parking underground (at an extra charge) - bends are tight if you have a large car. It ticked our boxes - clean even if some décor is dated, decent beds, room cleaned and made up daily, effective shutters for night, view onto a quiet street, and a small kitchen - we didn't use it except for glasses and the sliding door is an odd arrangement if you wanted to cook). It's not plush. but taking price into account we thought it was good enough value for four stars. Locally, the Prosperidad metro station is close but bus into the city (or to the Prado) gives you a view. For breakfast there are cafes quite close but we turned left then left again, past the metro and a couples of corners further (Calle de Cartagena) is a Rodilla cafe doing a brilliant brunch for €5.95.

Dark Ages

Avaliou em 17 de setembro de 2010

This hotel is a throw back to the dark ages. Madrid may be steeped in history but it doesn’t mean we have to put up with ancient accommodation. Where to start - check in is a little cabby hole! - the property doesn’t have a sign outside and is difficult to find from the tube station. The kitchen is falling apart and you can just about call it a kitchen - its as big as a cupboard. The curtains - hope you like being woken up to the sun as nets don’t seem to hold out the lights very well and the shutters they have either. the beds are the thinnest mattress's ever - you can feel every spring. Towels and sheets - sparse and is there thread on them? so basically if your skinny you'll be fine as the towel should just about wrap around you - the springs wont dig into you too much and you'll definitely fit into the tiny kitchen/bathroom - and yes and there's a terrible smell in the corridor- overall steer clear reality is you pay for what you get and for same money I’m sure you can get something a little more resembling this century – look a little more but don’t stop here!

Olano Apartments was a great base for exploring Madrid

Avaliou em 7 de julho de 2009

Olano Apartments was a great base for us. We stayed 3 nights and thought the apartment was very good. *Location is great if you wish to explore the city and be away from the craziness and get some sleep. Its right near the main Metro Line that goes everywhere in Madrid. *By Metro you can get to the Prado about 10 mins away, Old town about 15 mins away maybe quicker but so easy to get there. *Nice and big apartment *Air-Conditioned *Kitchen Facilities makes your stay cheaper by having the choice to eat in and pack lunch *Washing machine was very Handy Only Negative * You had to pay for internet but it was way overpriced so we didn't bother getting it. 6 euros for 1 hr or 12 euros for 24 hrs. We found an internet cafe around the corner that is really cheap. We wouldn't of mined paying if it was a reasonable price. Overall we thought the Price was great for how big the apartment was. Take note: Try not to arrive during lunch time because they close the office. I'm not sure how long but we noticed it was closed and most shops in Madrid close from 1.30-4.30 so check the office hours.

If you are American this not the place to start out your first Day in Madrid in.

After a long flight with no sleep and speaking no Spanish you want that welcome mat well, if the big man is there you won't get any love. He will barely tell you that in Spain the room key turns on the lights. That I had to find out from the cleaning ladies who by the way are really nice. This hotel though is a good value and the women who work there when not on the phone making personal calls are actually okay. This is for the budget conscious and the Spanish Speaker.
