3,5 star - 12 year old Resort. Not luxury 5 star. Staff fantastic

Nearly all reviewers praise the staff for their kindness, friendliness and genuine interest in their guests. We are no exemption. They are near faultless. This said, Tadrai Island Resort is NOT a luxury experience at all. On their own website, they describe themselves as: " WELCOME TO TADRAI ISLAND RESORT. YOU DESERVE TO LIVE THE DREAM... FIJI'S NEWEST FIVE STAR RESORT HAS BEEN CREATED EXCLUSIVELY FOR COUPLES. " The resort was built in 2011, and is showing it. It is 12 years old.! 3,5 stars is more accurate. The villas were quite ok, but with cheap finishes...( painted bathroom floors, rusting non-galvanized hinges, poor drainage ) The restaurant has no protection if there is wind and rain. When that happened, all the tables and guests had to be squeezed up against the opposite wall. The old and torn sun cover was missing anchor points and gave no protection from the rain. The garage gray painted restaurant floor had to be cleared of rainwater by several staff members using large squeegees. Next to the main posts in the restaurant there were 2 foot scraggly palms in black plastic pots.

Because we were ready to pay and experience the “Best of the Best”, we chose very carefully and there were several 5 Star Fiji all inclusive resorts. In hindsight, it is hard to imagine that there is a better experience in Fiji!! We were picked up by the Tadrai Island Resort boat, brought to our Villa where luggage was delivered within minutes. Upon arrival the staff sang a heartfelt welcome song, given an arrival libation and introduced around. Yet if you want privacy, there can be no better. There are five oceanfront villas each with a beautiful, air conditioned, bedroom area, connected to a large outside shower, humongous tub facing the ocean, with a wonderfull plunge pool, and a full covered lanai. There was a stocked refrigerator and simply a call away from anything you could want. This included your own snorkel tours, sunset rides, private picnics at neighboring islands, and so much more. Yet, most importantly, the experience was about the staff, roughly two for every guest! We got to know the staff as individuals and wonderful FIJI people! We would have taken them home with us if we could. When we left there was more music and lots of shared tears and hugs and exchange of e mail addresses. This is a LONG review that still is inadequate to relate the wonder of our six days and five nights. Our hearts were touched and we left a small piece at that resort. “ Nobody does it better”, We will go back. They are our friends!

This all inclusive resort is like a dream! With only 5 villa's, they give you a very personal approach and make you feel like you are part of the family. The villa's are very nice, directly connected to the beach, big terras and small pool. We were there for 4 days, after spending 2 weeks in New Zeeland and this was the perfect way to end our holidays. The staff is very friendly and the service is outstanding. Different activities are also included: picnic in a privat island, fishing, sunset boattrip, a hike to the local village, snorkling,... The food and drinks were really good, they work with menu's, but you can always order something else. Igf you want to disconnect, enjoy and like a personel approach, this is the place to be!! My husband and I just finished our 4 night 5 day trip to Tadrai and came to the mainland Fiji, after spending 4 nights at Tadrai and 2 nights in Tokoriki. We had a great time from the start to the end. I absolutely love the staff at Tadrai! Big shoutout to Jo, Nash, Moses, Rose, Rocky, Freddy, philo, Antoinette and all other beautiful chefs and team members that made my time out beautiful and relaxed. I’ve been on multiple trips overseas for many years but rarely got to relax as I always worked even on my trips (and simultaneously studied full time). It was the first time in nearly 8 years that I absolutely did nothing but relax. And the Tadrai team made it possible. I am vegan and initially the team did have a bit of difficulty understanding what vegan means. They kept saying vegetarian and I often ended up getting eggs, or dairy based sandwiches or pasta dishes. It was however immediately rectified and I was given a fresh meal. Although it did disappoint me once and I was very upset because I explained it quite a few times. I even offered to help as I am a nutritionist. BUT chef Jo and his other chefs when they got my food right, they did a fabulous job! I absolutely loved it. I loved my massages the trips to near by islands. My small hike to the village and best part of everything being inclusive in the package I didn’t have to worry about paying anything later. I will definitely be back and I know now the team absolutely knows what Vegan is! :) people will always be well taken care of at Tadrai!

This resort will go beyond your expectations, it did for us. 4 days was too short, 5 might have been perfect and anything beyond would be fabulous. The forecast had thunderstorms our entire stay, but as they will tell you, just wait to see what happens because it's no always accurate. The first 2 days were cloudy with some rain, but the had a day and a half of sunshine. We were so grateful to see the sunny side before leaving. Highlights: delicious fresh food, the staff are friendly/helpful/caring, the experiences are genuinely magical, the entire resort itself overlooking the ocean and other islands is breathtaking. You have the option to get to know other guests, which we enjoyed but it's also a perfect place for a secluded holiday. The Fijian culture is very community oriented so I would recommend enjoying that inclusive atmosphere. It was clear the staff enjoyed it more when the guests were all gathering, too. Chef Joe and the other cooks came up with unique dishes that knocked out socks off every time. The Kokoda was my favorite we tried since it's so uniquely Fijian (like ceviche with coconut). The bartenders (Sikeli and Moses for us) were so wonderful, they make meal times and lounging by the pool a delight. The cleaners Noci and Angela were wonderful, kind and considerate of our needs. We also had a massage with two ladies who were very skilled and the little spa hut above the beach is so beautiful. Nancy, Rocky and Captain Tony made the excursions feel like once in a lifetime experiences. Rocky esp has a great personality and shares a lot of Fijian culture with guests. Snorkelling, picnicking on a private beach, the sandbar, the Fijian coconut demonstration and visiting the village were all incredible! My advice besides length of stay is to be patient booking activities. They're often weather dependent and since it's a small resort, you've got a small team coordinating everything. Plus they're on "island time" as they say. They'll make sure you have a special stay there, but that's another reason the length of stay is better longer. You don't come here to jam pack every day and you'll struggle to do this if you try. We were sad to leave, in fact the farewell song made me cry it was so beautiful. Highly recommend to everyone!
