We booked the king suite with whirlpool tub. We did this mainly because it was cheaper than the competitions base room. The room was clean and comfy. Included is a frig, walk in closet, two rocking chairs, and all extra necessities you might need.( razor, toothbrushes, etc. the room could use some cosmetic repairs. It was missing a towel rack, one was bent, and scratches on one table. The tub was very relaxing, good water pressure throughout. The complimentary breakfast was basically non existent. They had mini muffins and donuts, coffee and milk. Good thing the McDonald’s is next door.

The Econo Lodge is conveniently located off a major highway in Maquoketa, Iowa. Here’s what you get for $69 a night……..the building was dated but clean, the rooms were economically furnished but functional, , there was a side chair and a little desk with chair, a flat screen TV, a coffee maker, a microwave, mini fridge and a shower that had enough pressure to take the first 2 layers of skin. The bed linens were adequate but the sheets weren’t 800 count. For exactly what I described we paid $200 a night, three weeks ago in New Orleans. I can not complain.

This is one of the best budget hotels I have stayed in. My room was on the second floor on the back side of the building. It was a single-bed room with a small table and chairs, a desk with chair and a single large window that I opened. What a pleasure to relax in a clean room having my dinner at a table with the window open to a warm breeze and evening song birds! The staff was friendly and very helpful. No carpeting, another plus. The bathroom was small but that was not an issue for me. The hotel's location is very good - close to the highway exit with a grocery store and fast food in walking distance. I will absolutely stay here again.
