Hostile Experience, the Opposite of Enjoyable

Where to begin. Platinum member here. Room #217. Pros: Comfortable beds with labeled 'Firm' and 'Soft' pillows. Has HGTV. Good coffee downstairs. Cons: Upon check-in, staff can't link our two reservations to keep us in the same room both nights. A call the day before arrival it was stated there is no way to do so with reservations in separate names. Never before experienced this issue at any IHG property. No welcome points given the first night. In wine country, at an events hotel, no wine key available at the front desk much less in the room. Told to go to CVS half a mile away. Whatever happened to basic hotel service? At breakfast, so many disappointments. A broken hot water dispenser. No orange or cranberry juice, just apple an overflowing spill tray. Super clean, but broken, pancake machine, even has its own "Oh flip, broken" sign. Charged 17% taxes on a free night award - not once, but twice! The lady working the breakfast room doubled as the front desk clerk who would ultimately resolve this math error. Place is severely understaffed. Room air conditioner rattles when condenser kicks on. Fan provides plenty of white noise for sleeping through the idling of trucks in the portico below the window. Loose headboards rattle when leaned back on. Weak flushing toilet. Slow draining tub. Noisy water flow from flushed upstairs toilet. Better building engineering needed at this sadly designed hotel. Adjust your expectations accordingly, intrepid traveller. Management needs to empower front line staff by providing the funds or authority to fix these issues.

Stopped here late at night while traveling. Hotel is nice and clean. Staff is very friendly. Room was comfortable. Parking lot is well lighted at night. Location is easy access, quiet and safe. Great hotel!!

The rooms were amazingly great for the price. Overlook the river, Hotel was immaculate and clean. The breakfast was good but on average with other hotels in this price range and class. All in all it was an excellent stay and would stay here again if needed.

Great staff but trying to operate on a shoestring budget

When reserving I requested and was granted a specific room. Prior to arrival (about 4 hours) I contacted the hotel to confirm. I was informed the rooms were first come, first served so there wasn't any way to know what room, floor etc. I would get. That didn't work for me but the GM did arrange for something close to what I had originally requested. He said their reservation system was antiquated and couldn't do what lots of other hotels could do??? The studio room was large and clean but for the 3 days we were there the sewer was always stopping up due to some sort of "grinder" (macerator?) problem outside. Not cool when you need to flush or taking a shower in ankle deep water. The "pantry" had next to nothing in it and most of the spaces were empty. The ice machine never had ice in it. The bed slept good and that was nice. It took the little fridge a day to get cool; I guess they turn if off until the day someone arrives. The breakfast is a hot breakfast but leaves a lot to be desired. The only thing served is meat and egg in some fashion, no potatoes, no biscuit, no gravy....nothing. The patty sausage is either ruined or a terrible tasting brand. No salt, no creativity; simply some freeze dried eggs with something to pass for meat. The one day we had bacon it was fairly good. The bagels aren't even split...and that's tough to do with a flimsy plastic knife. Staff is great and very friendly. They do their best but this is a nice hotel trying to run on a budget about 30% of what it needs to be so keep that in mind.

Good But Getting Old and Outdated

This was a decent hotel with a decent breakfast offering. Everything was clean and neat. The hotel itself is getting old and outdated, but they still keep it clean and nice. Overall, it is a good value. Nice place to stay in Marble Falls.
