Low Cleaning Standards During Pandemic
Over the course of this year alone, I have stayed in this hotel 7 times. I have stayed here because it is the only hotel in Marion that has a jacuzzi suite. And every time I have stayed, I have paid $163 for the Jacuzzi King Suite. The cleanliness of the two rooms that I always get keeps going downhill. The last couple times I have let it go, but then I realized that WE ARE IN A PANDEMIC! And the website clearly states certain things right at the top, such as; Industry-Leading Cleaning Standards and Modified Breakfast Service. During my stay in March there was a grab and go breakfast option, which I completely understand, but now there is NO breakfast option. The gym is not open, nor is the pool. All completely understandable, but what is not understandable is that the price of the rooms has not been lowered due to going without the normal amenities. Also, the people at the front desk are not the expected normal overly friendly bunch. And no one is ever there when I check out.... NOT ONCE! And the lobby is too dim. But my biggest issue with this hotel is that the "Industry-Leading Cleaning Standards" does not live up to par! There are two different rooms that I frequent, 200 and 300. This time I stayed in room 200. As soon as I got in my room it was freezing. Then I went to put my laptop on the desk, the leg on the desk is broken and I had to stick a towel under it just so it would stop rocking back and forth. But the surfaces in this room were DISGUSTING! I stuck my hand in something sticky/slimy on the corner of the desk, which told me it was NOT cleaned. After I wiped it down with soap and water, I could see how disgusting the rest of the desk was. The wet bar area was also sticky. The screens on the tvs in the room were smeared. I have to completely wipe out the jacuzzi tub every time I stay here because there is always visible hair and other things from previous guests. There is a hole in the ceiling right above the tub. The mirrors are always smeared and look filthy. The grout around the tub is very dirty looking. This time there was a piece of chewed up gum in the corner. The ottoman in the bedroom is wobbly. I thought about buying a UV light just to see if the sheets and pillowcases were even being changed! I even tried to use the pull out sofa to lounge on because the actual sofa is so uncomfortable that you literally sink into it, but the sofa bed was broken and wouldn't even come out! No one in this hotel cares about their job or the health and well being of its guests. I am attaching pictures of my most recent stay. I hope that something is done for these people to take their job as a cleaning crew more serious. This place used to be a really nice getaway for my husband and myself, but now it just feels like $163 of gross.
Fairly clean and comfortable
Hotel was fairly clean and stay was comfortable. Front desk was informative during check in and knowledgeable about the city. Got nearby place for dinner and grocery. Good location. Had a good night sleep, so overall it was a good stay. Appreciate hotel staff, keep it up.
Don't stay here
Dirty room- hadnt been dusted, trash was still in room at check in, hair and dirt in rooms, air conditioner filter hadn't been cleaned, water was still in iron, desk chair was disgusting. Tub was broken and couldn't hold water. Dresser handle was broken. Booked 2 adults 2 kids but only 3 towels in the room. Was told by front desk staff that the manager would call me, but they never did. This hotel does not meet Best Western Plus standards!
Best hotel in Marion
Price is right for a chain hotel. Management will work with you as well as staff to make sure your stay is everything it should be. Other hotels in the area are over priced and some rude folks, not here.
Great 10 Night Stay
All of the employees at the Marion, Ohio Best Western Plus deserve praise. Anytime that I need something or a question answered they were all friendly, courteous, and caring to assist. The hotel was always in excellent condition and clean. The continental breakfast is one of the best and their coffee is excellent. Thank you all for making my 10 night stay an enjoyable and carefree one. Brian Lawrence Room 225
