Don't think about staying anywhere else! This well-kept establishment in the heart of the countryside is not only value for money, it provides for everything that you need for a relaxing stay in the heart of the Dordogne - something that you really couldn't get staying in Sarlat itself. After a hearty breakfast (all fresh produce:no supermarket pastries here!) you are within easy reach of all the beauty spots which Mario is always happy to advise and assist. The swimming pool is a great asset and always welcome at the end of a hot day touring. There are some wonderful nearby farm restaurants which I'd strongly recommend and Sarlat is a 15 min drive (you really need a car to get here - taxis are rare). Good standard of housekeeping and excellent facilities, I'd warmly recommend Cypres de Marquay for a family or a couple. Well done Claude and Mario for building up this hotel and for all your fine rigorous efforts during this Covid 19 crisis, we all felt secure.

What a fabulous view from the restaurant, pool, and our room! Quiet and pastoral, especially compared to the touristy bustle that Sarlat has become, sadly. Get out of town and stay here! Mario an Claude made our 3 days fantastic, with personal touches of service, such as recommending a prehistoric private cave that few know about! A terrific value, this hotel has an outstanding breakfast buffet featuring home made local breads, sweet treats, and plenty of fruit. Adjacent to a lovely, tiny village that is fun for walking. Ping pong, too! We will return!

Excellent, personable, helpful hosts. Smallish room but quite adequate. Good shower. Coffee available all the time and there is a bar which closes at 9pm. Lovely, heated swimming pool. Our host's recommendation on where to go for dinner was a good one. Nice patio area to sit and have a drink in the evening but watch out for the wasps that are blighting France in this area at this time of the year. But ... housekeeping had not put towels in our room. I only noticed this when the need was immediate. Breakfast commences at 8.30am. Far too late. Plenty of good choices but the layout is poor. By and large, only one person at a time can serve themselves because of the small area and with the late start for breakfast there was a queue. And to make matters worse, our host was running late so choices, including juice (the juice machine doesn't work) didn't appear until 8.45am. We didn't sit outside because of the wasps. This hotel is very near to excellent but the breakfast thing needs to be sorted out.

Our family of three stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. Mario and Claude are fabulous hosts and you truly feel at home there. We arrived late and didn’t make a reservation for dinner at the hotel. All restaurants in the area were closed. Mario and Claude prepared a nice dinner for us. The hotel is located in a quaint village near Sarlat-la-Canéda. If you are looking to relax and have a restful night, this hotel is definitely the one to stay. We loved waking up in the morning and spending some time on the terrace admiring the breathtaking views. Breakfast is generous with a lot of choice. Mario gave us good recommendations for a canoe trip, a local delicacies store, etc. Mario and Claude, we thank you and wish you great success.
