Clean and comfortable "cookie cutter" hotel
Not really much you can say about this hotel it is a typical roadside Campanile located on the outskirts of Dijon with easy access to the motorway and surrounded by commercial areas. Only stayed overnight here and it met my needs for a clean and comfortable reasonably priced hotel with a typical new style room that they are now offering but is exactly the same as you will find in a lot of other Campanile hotels. Easy check in and checkout and free parking and the room was clean and comfortable. Perfect for an overnight stay.
We enjoyed our stay but there are few room comforts such as extra towels, a waste bin in the room, heating in the bathroom which would have improved our experience. The restaurant food and service were very good but the atmosphere is not as it was previously when the decor was more cosy and attractive. It has a very basic feel to it and no warmth.
Good value for money but a bit depressing
I suppose we got what we paid for, everything worked and seemed reasonably clean but generally the hotel and surrounding area just seemed very depressing and run down. The hotel is on the edge of a big shopping area which includes a "Flunch" cafeteria, supermarket, chain bakery (closed on Sunday like everything else) so you could walk to get something to eat instead of getting back in your car, which is a plus. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but I was not inspired by the menu. € 10 for breakfast was also too much for a family of 4, again better value alternatives are available. I think there are better options in the area, that booked ahead, are not any more expensive than this hotel.
Perfect Overnight Stop
I stopped here overnight on my way to Annecy. Pretty easy to find. Had requested, via email, a ground floor room and was given one very close to reception and parking. I had our two large dogs with me so this made taking them out extremely easy, there’s plenty of space to walk them and a perimeter fence although I’d keep them on a lead to be safe. We prefer the Campanile’s when we have the dogs as you don’t have to go through reception, into lifts, along corridors with them. I didn’t use the restaurant but the menu looked good and was reasonably priced. There’s places to eat nearby incl McDonalds. You literally drive through a supermarket petrol station to get here, when I checked on the French Govt website it had the cheapest fuel locally. Given I only paid £30 for this room, it’s excellent value for money. Receptionist spoke good English and was very helpful. Room had a good size TV, kettle and takeaway cups for the morning brew. I’d take your own pillow as I’ve found that French hotel pillows are as thick as an after eight mint. I plugged my Amazon Firestick into the tv, tethered it to my phone and caught up on some films and had a good nights sleep. My only issue was a lack of a bin, the bathroom one was tiny although there are plenty of bins around outside.
Two Separate Overrnight Stays and Dinner
Overall our stays were good. However, there needs to be more towels in the bathroom, a waste bin in the bedroom and a bigger bedside table. The bath mat was very worn with badly frayed edges on our second night's stay. Reception was very good on both occasions. Our meals were good but gluten free food was very limited.
