Kouros Palace .. “disappointed”
...... ☀️ 🌵 😎😎 🌴 ☀️ ...... We stayed here Sep/Oct 2019 and booked through jet2, the hotel was advertised as having a lot on offer, good entertainment and being not too far to travel around ! On the whole, we found this hotel to be fairly good and quite pleasant but certainly needs to look at “What is most definitely Not that great and put things right” Ok, I’ll start with the positive things as there were many, then go on to the unfortunate Things, that clearly need addressing. ~~~~~~~~ Here’s the good & positive things .. 😁 1) the reception staff were always helpful and smiling, couldn’t of done any more 2) the food was of very good standard, re filled and quite a good varied choice 3) the rooms were comfortable, cleaned daily and towels replaced as you require them 4) the location of the hotel, was nice being able to come out cross the road walk down past the shop/hire shop and down to the beech & beech bar .. (lovely views) 5) the drinks at the bars day & eve were served well and never had to wait too long Also the snacks at the bars during the day (hot & cold were nice too) 6) finally, the cleanliness of the hotel and grounds was always very good Ok so sounds great, but ~~~~ Here’s the not so good points .. 😕 1) whilst we were here they done almost all of the entertainment (daytime & evening) Only in 🇩🇪 “GERMAN LANGUAGE” 🇩🇪... why ? When there where guests staying from many different countries, why would you only do the entertainment in 1 language (this made a lot of other people from different visiting countries feel unwelcome! The hotel 1 eve done a “Rock night” and opened the show with a tribute to Freddy Mercury & Queen, yep .. but translated the whole show into “German” .. Prob just as well they didn’t try and do a Michael Jackson show we thought 2) the only music that the entertainment staff said they were allowed to play Daytime or evening “had to be on the accepted German play list” 3) even though the food was lovely, you were only allowed to have a cup of tea or Coffee with breakfast, whilst in the dining room at lunch & dinner you were not allowed ! So you couldn’t have a coffee after your desert or with a baclava. You also couldn’t get a drink anywhere once you had left the dinning room from breakfast, and until after 10am when the pool side bars opened. The day we left, we waited nearly 2 hours after breakfast to be picked up but wasn’t allowed or able to get a drink. 4) pool towels were available, but in short supply, not the best 5) this hotels location is quite remote, and apart from what the hotel has on offer there is nothing else that nearby, unless you hire a car or bike or go on a trip out. ~~~~~~~ On the whole we had a good holiday and the food was nice, but this whole experience could of been a whole lot better had we and others not been made to feel unwelcome. Will we be going back, prob not, shame. Hope this helps you all, regards, M x
Best Hotel Ever, fantastic staff.
My family with 2 small children (6&3) and 3 adults stayed in this hotel for a week. I have been lucky enough to travel extensively over the years and stayed in all the different rated stars of hotel/accommodations and this is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Check in / Reception Check in was easy, however be aware we had to pay 28€ each room for tax but this is the Greek government not the hotel who impose this. The reception guy was so friendly and helpful. We arrived late at night and the kids were hungry and tired. We were given soft drinks for them. Rooms This hotel have little Golf Buggies to take you to your room with your cases. In the room fridge, the hotel had put some sandwiches and water, which we greatly appreciated. The rooms are large with decent WIFI and air conditioning which worked really well. The bathroom has a hairdryer with shower over the bath. The hotel provides lots of toiletries (body lotion, shower gel and shampoo) The towels are changed every day and the rooms are cleaned to a high standard. All in all great rooms and service. It took 2 minutes to walk from our room to the restaurant. Food Where do I begin, the food is fantastic with so many choices. Fish, meat, salad bar, pasta, rice. The best hotel food I have ever had. Drinks include, fruit juice, Coke, Diet Coke, wine, beer at lunch and dinner. We didn’t take advantage of the a la carte restaurant so I can’t review this. Be prepared to expand your waist line 😂 Pool There are two main pools - each has a children’s pool too, both are spotless with free towels supplied anytime you want them. These pools are on 2 levels with a small changing hut. Spa My daughter had a Spa massage which she said was really good. Supermarket There is a supermarket across the road which is stocked with milk, water, juice and tourist gifts. This is the only shop in the area and is quite expensive. Car Hire Next to the supermarket is a car hire place. The guy was friendly and really laid back. My 2 day car hire was 60€ and you take the car back full of fuel. Beach Bar The buggy will take you to the beach where the hotel has put rocks around the area in which kids can paddle safely - genius idea. Sun beds are on the beach, with a short walk 50 mtrs to the beach bar. The bar serves snacks and drinks. A great place to relax. Tennis and Football. There is a tennis court and five a side football pitch which are in really good condition. Staff The staff (and I mean all of them) are brilliant. They are so kind and helpful. The Greek people love children and made a big fuss of my grandchildren. Thanks to everyone for making our holiday so special, we really did appreciate it. Alcohol Myself and my family don’t drink alcohol but we make up for it with soft drinks. All inclusive can get local vodka, Gin, Bacardi etc and free cocktails with non-alcoholic cocktails for the children. There are two bars each serving drinks, snacks tea, coffee etc. Be aware, the hotel is a bit out the way but don’t be put off by this, car hire is cheap and you can get a bus to Kardamena. Kardamena This is 5 kilometres from the hotel and is quite tourist driven. Well worth a trip with normal tourist gift items. Kos Town We drove to Kos town for the day which was smashing. A lovely place with lots of shops and restaurant. Be aware, with the Greek economy beginning to recover, items are not cheap. Entertainment There is a mini disco each night for the kids which my grandchildren loved. The two girls who did the disco were lovely. The main entertainment starts at 9pm with everything from Greek dancing to acrobats to Rock & Roll. Don’t expect Las Vegas standard but the performers put in a lot of effort. Returning Home We booked with Jet2 holidays and the communication and service was first class. We will definitely book with Jet 2 again. Th duty free at Kos airport is small and expensive. For the smokers 200 cigarettes are about 45€. Again I don’t smoke so I don’t know if that is cheap or not. Duty free is disappointing. In summary Food is five star Rooms are five star Staff are ten star Services five star. Cleanliness five star You really should give this hotel a try, we loved it and are going back next year. The hotel closes on the 31st October and reopens in April 2020 but we will book the same week next year because the hotel was quieter which we preferred. I am going with Jet 2 again next year as they were first class. Kouros Hotel Please accept my family’s sincere thanks for making our holiday so perfect. You should be proud of yourselves, thank you, my family really do appreciate it. See you next year.
Amazing hotel spent two weeks and enjoyed every second the choice of food is first class and served by the most cheerful and helpful staff. Hotel is cleaned to a very high standard well done all staff and managers of a hotel that i would recommend to anyone. Go there you will not be disappointed.
Brilliant place to chill out
As All Inclusive hotels go this is very impressive. Rooms are airy and spacious The range and quality of food is fantastic Two good pools and lots of activities and entertainment Staff are very friendly and helpful Aircon and safety deposit boxes are included in the price. All in all highly recommended Kerris and Shaun
All inclusive with great food, average drinks but poor entertainment.
As for all my reviews this is based on the hotel itself and not the tour operator. We arrived at the Kouros Palace late at night. Transfer was only 20 mins from airport. But the proximity of the airport means regular flights overhead until small hours. Check in was slow as only one lady was working. She was very miserable if I was being honest. Once we checked in we were taken to our room by electric vehicle. During the day they have more staff so I would imagine check in would be quicker. On arrival to our room we had a few sandwiches and an apple. The sandwiches were dry as a bone so while we appreciated the gesture it could have been better. Our room was very well equipped and very comfortable. Had twin beds and not double but that is fairly standard on the continent. A few reviews have mentioned the shower being low down and it is but the water was always hot and forceful. Here is the surprising news so I hope you are sitting down. The room safe and the air conditioning is FREE. There is really fast WiFi around the whole site and that is FREE also. The hotel is made up of many multi story blocks around the complex. There are two main pools on two levels and smaller kids pools. It is a very attractive clean hotel. We found plenty of sun loungers available and hardly any reserved. They have a main bar that serves evening and lower pool. Pool bar on upper pool. Also a Beach bar that is part of your all inclusive. The beach has loungers that were free to guests. I'll start with the food. The food at this hotel is absolutely superb. There are many choices although after 11 nights it did start to get monotonous. They have a lovely selection of salads, cheese, cooked meats, olives etc.. They also do some great fish and meat dishes. For breakfast they do the usual cooked offering but also continental and pancakes. They also do a Greek offering for breakfast. For lunch the beach bar does more snacky food like gyros (Donner kebab), chips etc.. You are invited to the beach bar for A La Carte, I wouldn't bother. Most included dishes are available in main restaurant and at the A la carte drinks are not all inclusive. The drinks are typical all inclusive drinks. The beer is drinkable. The wine probably better off on your chips. They do a range of cocktails and they are very nice. The spirits and mixers are of a decent standard, they even have Gin and Tonic. The entertainment for me a UK customer was really disappointing. The hotel is made up mainly of German guests and most of the entertainment is provided by the German tour operator Alltours. All announcements were made in German first and then English second. I hated every single minute of the entertainment. Most evenings were a music show with original soundtrack and reps miming. Pool entertainment other that some really bad aqua is not existent. The hotel entertainers were dire. Our first night consisted of a double act saying if you have blue eyes take a drink, if you are English take a drink, if you have red hair take a drink. I needed a drink to get over the experience. To finish the hotel is in a quiet part of Town. The walk into the main town is about 35 mins along a footpath. There are two other bars nearby one called Dolphin that sells the best Mojito in world or so we were told. But the best bar for us was the Lovly Bar. Onto the beach turn left, along the beach and it is up on the rocks. Lovely people running it and ice cold Mythos. Watch out for the Oriental Hornets they are everywhere around the resort. Not as bothering as UK wasps but they struggled to fly due to their size so had a few near misses. To summarise I enjoyed our break to Kos, amazing sunsets. Overall was happy with hotel for what we wanted. Not a place to go back to for me.
