A beautiful surpise
We had a hard time finding this oasis because it’s not well marked. Once we were through the front entrance front he street, we were immediately “wowed” by the oasis beauty. It is vibrant, lush, welcoming and truly unbelievably beautiful. Our room had a comfortable king bed. The bathroom was clean and modern. Directly outside our room was the u-shaped pool. Within walking distance to Merida Centro and attractions and /or a short taxi ride. Highly recommend staying here! In fact we’ve tried to book twice since we are here this year and both times were full!!!
What a disappointment
We had high expectations, the pictures showed a classy estate full of historical character. The reality is not at all the case. This hotel is well located within walking distance of the center and the rooms are quiet. The personnel is friendly despite having to navigate the poor management. This hotel is not well kept at all and the lack of care is evident throughout. It has potential but it is not exploited. The pool is filthy, over the three days we were there we saw the same bundle of hair laying at the bottom of the pool, detritus floating, trash not being swept along the edge. The room we were assigned was laid out like a cell with only a window to the inside courtyard which for privacy sake could not be left open. This hotel is definitely not for you if you are claustrophobic. The bathroom had no towel bar to dry them, we had to chase housekeeping to give us dry towels. No in room coffee machine either. I asked for a hairdryer, the one they brought me was not working and apparently this was the only one in the whole hotel. The sheets on the bed were rough and they didn’t have a fitted sheet, a few toss and turn and we were sleeping on the mattress. The shower head was a joke spraying in every direction but downwards.
Standard remains very high here
2nd visit, a year plus later. This is still a very nice and comfortable boutique hotel with very favorable rates. I am happy to recommend it again. Perfect location for downtown Mérida and it offers secure car parking.
Great option downtown
We visited this place during our family vacation and we found it very cozy and quiet. The decorations are nice and easy to the eyes, and they give the luxury look to the premises... The beds are comfy, not outstanding but very good for a night sleep, the pool is small but nice to swim and the people go the extra mile to be nice... always smiling and helpful. The location is not the best but is not far from the core of the city... in walking distance you have a lot of options to see, eat, drink and shop. The restaurant they have is a good option for breakfast (their service hours are just for breakfast). The food is good specially if you are afraid to start your day with elaborated mexican cuisine, they have omelettes and pancakes with cup of coffee. The best of the restaurant is the service, always smiling and helpful. I recommend this hotel with a grain of salt, if you are visiting with a person with special needs it may be complicated to move around because of the location. Also, you shouldn’t judge it on your first impression, from the street you can’t appreciate the beauty of the hotel. Personally I would stay here again without hesitation. Thank you so much for the weekend, it was awesome.
some good points, some dangerous
Stepping up from the busy Mérida steets into the Mansión Lavanda courtyard feels nice... it's a refuge inside and surprisingly peaceful considering the noise just outside. Our room was nice, clean, and a good size. I would say good bang for the buck, BUT there a couple of downsides. The biggest one is that the hotel floors are simply treacherous when wet... most of the tiled floors in the common areas, the pool, and also in the rooms (even the bathrooms) are flat-out dangerous. We were slipping around left right and center, and a little girl from the neighboring room slipped and opened her lip wide open (the poor girl had to get stiched up). There is NO coffee... wtf is the deal with wannabe elegant hotels that don't offer coffee for their guests??? (no in-room coffee nor lobby coffee).
