Stayed for three nights in the master suite. Accommodations were excellent - room was very recently updated and spotless. In suite full kitchen and washer/dryer. The property itself is beautiful, the morning breakfast was excellent, the evening wine reception was great and the staff were incredibly warm and helpful. Finally, the location and more broadly that section of Highway 1 was stunning. Also very easy to access SF, Santa Cruz, Monterey. Highly recommend.
Back for Three Nights After Many Years

Many owners ago--in fact, the travel guide writer Karen Brown was then the owner, my husband stayed multiple times at the Inn for business meetings and I came for a one-night stay during one of his visits. At that time the Inn was smaller, but no less lovely than it is today. Super clean and somewhat elegantly decorated, with welcoming and helpful staff, Seal Cove Inn remains a destination to which we will return in the future. We arrived just after they'd opened the breakfast room, so were able to be socially-distanced from other guests eating breakfast. They also have a wine "hour" in the evening, which is very nice. The fireplace warms the great room during breakfast and the happy hour. Each room at the Inn has a fireplace, which is nice in this climate where it tends to be cool and gray for some part of each day practically all year-long. The beds are comfy and warm, although the pillows are not so much. They are neither as soft as down or foo-firm foam, but something in-between. For my taste--and pillows are SO personal--they are too hard. But the rest of the bed linens and those in the bath are very nice.
I would like to see the Inn add a couple of things to their offerings. First, there is no full-length mirror, at least not in our room. Not a big deal; everyone has a phone they can use to check their appearance by taking a photo. But, still, a full-length mirror would be convenient. In addition, some snacks with wine, even just nuts, would make the happy hour happier. And the breakfast offerings are very limited: yogurt with fruit, granola, fruit bowl with two small pieces of cheese and black-forest ham, and a bread basket with a too-sweet croissant and a muffin. These offerings do not change, so far as I can tell. There is nothing hot, although the croissant is heated. It seems for the price paid, at least one hot breakfast entree should be offered. I stay at other places in the same price range, such as the Santa Ynez Inn, and am offered a warm breakfast entree. This should not stop anyone from booking at Seal Cove Inn. It's a lovely bed and breakfast, but just know you won't be going for the breakfast part of that moniker, but for the room, the location, and the staff.
Few things you need to know

So nice but few things you need to know
I enjoyed our 1 night stay at the inn. We arrived around 2pm and were let into our room early. Gardens were beautiful. We
We’re Given some chocolate chip cookies by the friendly lady at the desk. The room was gorgeous, super clean. Only thing I found concerning was some splatter stains in the bathroom by the toilet paper dispenser that needed to be wiped down. We went for a walk through the trees. It took us a minute to find the beach stairs.
Pay attention here
The access isn’t private like I thought I read. It’s access to the marine reserve. This beach is not a swimming beach it’s full of seaweed and animal life. Can’t take food, buckets, kites. Fun to look at but disappointing for my 4 year old. We sat and watched the ocean for a bit and headed back. It was cold and foggy which I’ve learned is a constant state here. We couldn’t get our Wi-Fi to connect for long at all. The lady at the desk offered to help but I wouldn’t sure what she could do - it would connect the desk 5 minutes later log me out.
I didn’t get any wine every time I strolled passed that evening she was busy checking people in. I didn’t want to interrupt. No problem...
The beds were so comfortable the fireplace was fantastic I loved opening our screen door to Let the breeze in that night.
The breakfast was the saving grace - it was wonderful and generous. Yummy!
I’d recommend this place but not for the beach.
A delightful inn in a delightful spot

We heard about this inn from friends who stayed there in December, and loved it. Also, I wanted to go back to the tide pools near Moss Beach which I last visited 33 years ago. The inn is delightful. There are beautiful gardens. Sadly, due to the pandemic, the enticing breakfast room is not open, but the rooms are spacious, very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the back gardens, with a glimpse of the sea. There's a Keurig with plenty of coffee and real cream (not powder). They checked us in at 2 pm, which is very rare these days, noted our breakfast preferences, and gave us freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. We went off on the Cypress Grove walk which is just beautiful, and then down to Moss Beach. The next morning, we had breakfast in the room. It was excellent, the best I've had delivered at any hotel. The croissant was very good, unlike the doughy ones in packets that seemed to have been baked in the De Gaulle era. The yogurt and fruit was also very good, and the hardboiled eggs were perfect. The cappucino, however, was no better than the in-room coffee, and just had milk added. After breakfast, we followed the directions now to the tide pools which were wonderful. We saw little crabs in snail shells, a large sea star, and several Harbor seals and a few other seals, using the inn's binoculars. Everyone at the inn was very friendly and helpful. Yes, it's a splurge, but worth it. The town of Moss Beach is completely unspoiled and quite delightful.
Perfect one night stay!

My husband and I were in town for work and booked one night at the Seal Cove Inn.
We arrived before our work event (and before check-in time) and were able to do the complete check in process, drop off our bags and pick up the room key. When we arrived back to our room at 9 pm, we walked into a beautiful room with the perfect ambiance, a glass of wine and cookies waiting for us! We turned on the fire place and relaxed after our busy day.
We stayed in a balcony king room and this was well worth the price! I thoroughly loved the ambiance, aesthetics, attention to detail of this spot. Beautiful, quiet location and friendly staff. Breakfast was delivered the next morning.
Our only criticism is the backyard/patio area is a bit scraggly and not really a place we’d spend much time. It needs a little TLC. The front yard is gorgeous and beautifully landscaped!
We would absolutely come back when we could spend more time enjoying this special property. Thank you!
