This place is absolutely worth it. Because they are clean and well maintained, some amenities are actually more beautiful than the price you pay. For example, the breakfast resto has a great view of the river. The accommodation is in a pretty good location. In the middle class community area Along with a delicious restaurant And convenient transportation all around.
An extraordinary place

Excellent service from the super friendly helpful staff (especially Woody and New), in an extraordinary old teak house next to the river. Club One Seven is a unique wonderful place, highly recommended.
Can be noisy at night but you can go naked in the brief morning sun

If you're looking to enjoy an evening sauna or be in a gay environment, you can do that here, but I would advise against booking a room in the guesthouse. Get a much better room elsewhere and come to Club One Seven on a day pass, which I think was only 150 Baht. Rooms are very basic and much better deals for the price are all over the place in Chiang Mai. (I paid more than $100/night Canadian – about 2,350 Baht – per night for one of Club One Seven's largest rooms. I had the one nearest the entrance on the ground floor. My biggest complaint with Club One Seven was loud dance music way past midnight on the night before I had a morning flight back to Canada. This was on a Tuesday night. You would think that a weeknight would not be a particularly loud night, but at Club One Seven, you can never tell. This was the loudest night during my five-night stay in December 2019. My requests to turn the music down were ignored and I was told that there were paying customers in the sauna than in my room so the music would stay at the volume it was. There was no general manager of any sort that I could see during my five days. Staff seemed to have their own areas that they were assigned to. People doing music simply could not have cared less. There needs to be coherent oversight of the entire operation. The sauna itself has a large dark-room maze area, so if that is your thing, there is that. The place also has a dry sauna that is hot. Its wet sauna has a door that can't close fully so it is never much more than mildly warm. One ridiculous sign in my bathroom read, "Our guesthouse is over 130 years old therefore our pipes are narrow and fragile. We request that all toilet paper and condoms be packed in the covered trash so the pipes don't get blocked. Please help us protect our home." (I will try to upload a photo) Now, they don't really mean that you can't flush toilet paper, but the estimate that the hotel room building is 130 years old may well be true. Walls are thin, as are ceilings. So you hear noise from other rooms. There are few electrical outlets, sometimes power goes out, and lights generally are dim. The room safe is small and is not connected to anything, (see photo that I plan to upload) so it is not really secure in that regard. Anyone could easily walk off with the safe. Mosquito nets line the bed as the place is by the river. It is nice to be able to socialize with other gay men at breakfast and through the day. The sun is present in the breakfast area but not by the pool. So morning is the time to tan at the restaurant by the river, which has a pleasant and tranquil view. About the only reason to stay here for me was morning chats with other gay travellers and being able to be naked in the sun. Other travellers and I agreed that a better layout would be for the pool to be where the restaurant is so there would be some sun by the pool. There are many employees and they keep busy. That means vacuuming the gym every morning after breakfast in an area where there is the only sun. There are nice gardens that are diligently watered. (Chiang Mai's other gay sauna, House of Male, across town, is a bit of the opposite experience to Club One Seven in that it has a scarcity of staff, so never any incessant sweeping but also no noise or intrusions. It is a bit dirtier and had some dying plants but has full sun by the pool all afternoon. HOM only has a wet sauna but that stays hot. It has no dry sauna. It was also a place that I went to several days during my five-night stay at Club One Seven, so that says something. Club One Seven has front desk staff who were able to help me get a Grab ride.) Breakfast at Club One Seven is OK. It's not a buffet, just a few choices. They strangely seemed to run out of a lot of ingredients. One day it was a syrup for drinks. The next day, of all things, it was chicken.
A remarkable place for gay nudists

A wonderful hotel in old dark teak wood, with big and nicely decorated rooms with Thai handicrafts. Excellent location by the Ping river, although a bit far from city center, but all you are looking for is here. Nice restaurant with delicious Thai food. And combined with a sauna with darkrooms, and naked night on Saturdays. Walking around naked in the hotel, having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the river, suntanning, swimming etc., all naked, this is very well accepted by the staff, more than just tolerated, but not enforced (except Saturdays in the sauna, no towels). Last time I went back to Chiang Mai, Club One Seven was the only reason to go there. Recommended it to my gay nudist friends, all had the same experience
I keep coming back!

This was my third visit to Club One Seven. As always, extremely impressed! There were some new staff present this trip. Each of them welcomed me with open arms, and as with the "older" staff, always gave service to an exemplary standard. Club One Seven always make me feel as though I am home and the staff are more friends than employees of the establishment. Well done Club One Seven...
