I had to give a deposit of 600B for keys when I got there was sus on that but got it straight back when handing in keys before room was even checked. Staff was very freindly. Also have nice decorations and paintings in lobby. Nice picinic area outside n laundry mat next door only 10 bart per load
The best place to stay in chiang mai. Pleasant rooms. Absolutely worth for money. Staff is super good. Good chef's. Very close to city centre. Gonna stay here every time I visit chiang mai. Hopefully soon .
Absolutely fantastic staff and a lovely hotel
We stayed here in October 2015 when the hotel was still named the Palace Place and were impressed with the excellent value for money and the wonderful members of staff. Myself and my boyfriend came here after an accident meant we had to stay in Chiang Mai for a week and we needed somewhere comfortable to stay that wasn't too far from the hospital. We were greeted by receptionist Terry who immediately came out to get our bags for us, once we'd checked in we realised that the shower in our room didn't work so he immediately moved us to a new room. The whole time we were there he was friendly and helpful giving us information about Chiang Mai and Thailand, always checking we were happy with our service and room and even stopping to pick us up when he saw us walking in to the town. The rooms were perfect, really comfortable with everything we needed, a hot shower and a fridge. Breakfast was included when we stayed which was great because there was't really anywhere to eat nearby. The WiFi was great at first but did get worse while we were there possibly caused by some temporary construction outside the hotel. The location wasn't ideal as it was quite a walk in the heat everyday but definitely not impossible and the hotel would book a taxi for you if needed. If I was to return to Chiang Mai I would stay here again if only for the friendly staff and excellent value for money!
The rooms and build in furniture is good. Bathrooms a bit small and basic. Free parking. The location is ok if you have your own transport. If you are depended on taxi/tuktuks it's a bit harder (and not always cheap). No bus(ses) around the area. Formerly Palace Place and they rented also rooms per month. We had a room there for two years. Management changed and they prefer now to rent on daily basis.
De Kriya more like De Liar
The De Kriya hotel situated about a 10 minute drive from Chiang Mai's legendary night market (which is amazing by the way) and about a 30 minute drive from the airport lacks a bit of luster. Don't get me wrong £5 a night is incredible for any hotel room, however we did get probably exactly what we paid for. The photos displayed on websites advertising this hotel were misleading - for our room anyway. The walls needed a good paint job and the showers were bloody awful. However based on the price we paid I can't complain too much, just would be nice to not have false hope. And to say the hotel has a restaurant made up of 2 tables and 8 chairs is a little far-fetched in my personal opinion. The toast was lovely though!
