Pleasant Short Stay

The Good: The Hotel Staff were very pleasant and courteous. The location was excellent as it was 2 minutes walk from l the UBahn and also the area is lively with great restaurants. The Bad: The facilities were missing. For example there was no AC or Fan.. luckily weather was good so open window did the trick... kettle or tea in the room and also other basic toiletries amenities were missing. For the amount I paid (160euro approx) it was not up to the mark.

I've lived in Schwabing 40 years ago. The Occam hotel is in the middle of this charming neiborghood. Close to the Emglischer Garten. The Hotel is nice, quiete. Nice rooms, nice reception. I went to the center going along the Leopold Strasse and the Ludwigsstrasse. Having breakfast in one of the beautiful caffes. Lunch in some very good ethnic restourants. Many memories of the seventies when you could meet the rolling stones at the Tiffany's disco. Don't miss the Englischer Garten and the Hof Garten. I'll surely go back to Schwbing and the Occam Hotel.
Good location, clean and tody, but a very small room

Located in a pleasant side street in what seems to be quite a nice part of town, there are a few bars and restaurants in the vicinity but our room was at the back of the hotel facing a courtyard and we didn’t hear any noise at night. It’s a bit of a walk if you want to go in to the town centre, but there is an underground station just around the corner, so it only takes a few minutes if you use that. The room itself clean and tidy but really quite tiny, consisting of a bed down either side and a small walkway between them. Other than that, there was very little floor space, although they had managed to somehow squeeze in a desk, mini-bar and wardrobe. A small TV was mounted on the wall above one of the beds, but other than that there was little in the way of facilities, e.g.; no safe or tea/coffee making facilities for example. The bed was quite comfy although the pillow was very thin – that said it was quite a large square shape rather than the more usual rectangle and so could be folded over on itself to double the thickness. The duvet was for some reason folded up and placed on the bed rather than being laid out ready for use. The bathroom too was quite small with the loo squeezed in to one corner, although the shower cubicle was a better size than some and was hot and powerful, although the temperature did tend to fluctuate somewhat. The breakfast room was also quite small and it appeared that additional tables had been set up in the office as there was insufficient space in the dining room. The usual continental help yourself selection was available and included juices, cereals, yoghurts, meat, cheese (although no fish), fresh fruit, tinned fruit salad and so on. There wasn’t a massive selection, but there should be enough there to suit most people I would have thought. The only hot item available was a boiled egg, and the orange juice wasn’t great, but it was ok on the whole. A basket of rolls was placed on the table, although oddly this only ever included one croissant, regardless of how many diners there were on the table. All the staff we met were pleasant and friendly, although the service did seem a bit chaotic at times. We also had to fill out individual check in cards on arrival, and the receptionist seemed to be getting a bit flustered trying to deal with all this, although there were only four of us! We also got told that we had to settle the bill the night prior to our departure which seemed odd, especially as we weren’t leaving particularly early and would have had plenty of time in the morning. This too seemed to fluster her and she ended up keying in the wrong amount and putting the card in to the machine upside down. Overall, I’ve mixed feelings about this. The location and staff were very good, but the very small room and basic facilities let it down somewhat, especially given the fact that I didn’t feel it was especially cheap.
Stuck in previous millenium, too expensive

€100 a night? Ridiculously overpriced, does not deliver promised services. Yeah, the rooms are clean and 2 of the 3 staff I spoke to were nice. Checked in this afternoon: 1. The first room had no lights, the electrician was just there and "fixed it"; 2. Hotel advertises itself as having "free internet". There is no Internet, "only the night manager knows how to started". The (older) receptionist didn't want to call the night manager "because he is resting". Finally another staff was nice enough to contact "the expert", who told her some nonsense about my firewall settings, but refused to have the router restarted. At which point I was told by the receptionist "you have to wait for the night manager he comes at 9pm". At which point I went to a cafe next door, where ODDLY ENOUGH I had no problem accessing their WiFi (no issues anywhere else in Munich today on this).
