I think Shangri-La is the top 1 hotel in the city, period. Excellent location, thoughtful guest service, aesthetic room design, various choices of breakfast. But the bath tub is not that "perfect", since I've found hairs inside.

I stayed at the Shangri-La Nanchang for 7 nights in a Horizon Club room. My room on the 29th floor was nicely appointed with a river view. The Horizon Club lounge on the 32nd floor was perfect for breakfast each day and cocktails / small bites in the evenings. I highly recommend choosing a Horizon Club room because the lounge access is very much worth it in my opinion. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, particularly in the lounge. I didn't try the pool, but used the well-equipped fitness center daily. The hotel is a short walk to Quishui Square which is a nice area to visit at night to watch the fountain and light show. The hotel is also walking distance from shopping and restaurants. The metro is just steps away from the hotel, and is easy to use. I visited the Tengwang Pavillion using the metro - just one stop across the river followed by a 1 km walk. One issue was that I found the room way too warm. I phoned and was told that the AC was turned off in the rooms (presumably for the winter - I was there in December). They sent up a fan which I was dubious about, but it did help a lot for sleeping. The room also had a stale cigarette smoke smell sometimes, and this was noticed in other rooms by my business partners I was traveling with. I think the occasional smoky smell wasn't so much in the room, but rather in the circulating air. Overall, it was a great stay and I will be back at the Shangri-La the next time I am in Nanchang.

Poor after service

Have not been staying Shangri-La hotel for a long time. The location is good, next to the scenic river and water fountain. Also subway is also about 100m from the hotel. Got upgrade to a river view room with nice view of the sunrise. But things getting started to turn wrong after checkout. Due to that day Nov 1st, Nanchang tax bureau system upgrade Fabiao is not able to issue during checkout. It was promised to send me accommodation Fabiao(by courier) and hotel dinning Fabiao(by email. Received the accommodation Fabiao on 11/3. And decided to give them a call on 11/4 to figure out why my hotel dinning Fabiao is yet received. Called twice, the answered from the reception was ridiculous, proposing to transfer me to restaurant. And I asking me to ask the Fabiao myself. And claim will call back which never occur. Till I gave a 3rd call, demanding to talk to a floor manager only to have the Fabiao send to my email. I will say the Shangri-La Nanchang is the respond and service is rather poor and not a Five star rating. P/S: On my hotel invoice it was rather weird. I found that there was an qq email account and a golden circle membership #. I can't remember I am golden circle member.

What a beautiful property overlooking the river. The views from your room are amazing. Lobby is like any other 5 star property. Lobby is a bit crowded. The restaurant in the lobby offers excellent local and international cuisine. Rooms are big. TV channel selection is mostly Chinese except for one english news channel.

We checked into the horizon club and the service is superb. The staff also friend and introduced us to many attractions around the hotel. They are quite kind also to our children. Good attention received from Vicky Chen. A great warmth and smiling face made a long trip that much more pleasant.
